Got soaked through on the peg a couple of times this season, Musto lightweight is SH1T and too short so legs wet through.
Hate over trousers, too hot.
Want something packable.
After much research I stumbled on a UK firm Camouflage Raincape - Mister Antony
They appear to make Scottish band kit.
Anybody any views or experience of them.
Look reasonable value, very temped to get one ( plain olive not camo for driven days)
 
Mrs bought me one of those Catchdry fellows. Very warm, very waterproof. I would imagine it would work well if you had the misfortune of having to stand on a peg in hammering rain.
 
Best coat known to man for ultimate dryness is a lockwood smock! I cam 100%vouch for that, sadly they don't do trousers though. I currently wear Musto overtrousers when out in the woods feeding, foxing or at competition

I like the brown one.
I remember a chap wearing one one miserable day on Hales estate.
He was very comfortable in it where as others were not! Drowned rats comes to mind. No idea of brand.

Check out on vinted for cattlemen's coats for an alternative maybe.
 
I recently bought one of the Seeland Taxus Poncho’s for a wet season trip to Singapore & Malaysia and felt I got my monies worth ☔️ it worked a treat & packs away well.
 
Decathlon make a ‘solognac hunting long waterproof coat’. Reduced to £39.99. Basic but does the job.
 
Hooded ponchos have a place - particularly in the tropics where you have high humidity and wearing a traditional waterproof would have you literally boiling in the bag unable to vent.

They do however get in the way of gun handling. You’d never get away with wearing one on Ops.

That said I do keep an old 58 pattern hooded poncho (don’t think it’s remotely waterproof anymore) for when I’m literally stood out in it - but not when shooting, too noisy and restrictive.

For game shooting on peg I’d invest in a decent long (knee length) GoreTex jacket like the Musto Highland. You can stand in the rain all day in one and it won’t go through. You also have easy access to gloves/ear plugs and most importantly cartridges unhindered.

I had to look and my thoughts, mindful of the c£500 price tag, are as follows:
* You may or may not be right in the matter of garment dryness rating but let's assume you are.
* Fabric is very noisy.
* Fabric is very stiff.
* Cut of smock is overly generous and lacks the tailored fit I would expect at such a price point.
* Hand warmer pockets are too high and narrow.
* The lining does not make for a warm coat.
* The patriotic messaging within the sales blurb is over-the-top.

Ridgeline kit really doesn’t leak even in the heaviest rain. Doesn’t breathe much either in my experience, but for on peg mainly static low-intensity shooting they are worthy of serious consideration. Personally I prefer Goretex garments but that’s just me and they tend to be more much expensive. You pay your money and take your choice I suppose.

I have one it stands up on its own it’s more like a wagon sheet
Its claim to fame it was on the clothes show in the late 80s me mates sister works there went in for repair as it did not have the current Barbour label on it had to be checked by supervisor it was an early made Barbour no royal crest still wear it now & again

Bought one of these for emergency use and have never used it! Packs very small and gets thrown into the game bag for those just in case moments - one day I’ll find out 🤭

I keep a couple in my truck in the seat pocket. My wife has used one when we were out and her coat wasn't waterproof, did the job so she was dry.
