Yep forecast rain again tonight and farmer just text fox on camera 1amTidy job there mate. I pi**ed down last night and is pi**ing down now

I need to get the new Zulu (open box bargain from Blackwood Outdoors) onto the .17 HMR as I have a few bunnies and hares that need dealing with. Just need some weather to get it set up and then get out

What's your impression of the Zulus ...I take it you mean the new 4k tubed version ?

I got one of the older zulus so the HD 5-20 as the price was sub £300 so worth a punt.
Only got it today so lets see when it goes on the rifle
I miss having the opportunity to take the HMR out.. and certainly miss the days where I could shoot 70 rabbits in a night.

Cheers Smelly. Frankly I started off NV with a Pulsar N750A about 12 years ago and that was a great scope but looked like a brick on top of the rifle...it finally gave up the ghost recently so wanted something sensibly priced for the (few) bunnies around me. The boss is getting annoyed with the hole digging at the top of the drive and there are a few places I need to sort the hares on so why not

On the drive down,I rang a friend I hadn’t been talking to for a while which led to a prolonged chat after I’d pulled in at the first port of call
Anyway,while we were on the phone I said “lad you won’t believe this,but there’s a fox after coming out of the wood in front of the jeep and gone up the road to a run I know goes into the field behind me!”
I told him to stay on the line and say nothing while I popped the phone into my jacket and got the rifle out of the sleeve then out into the crush pen
She was 120 yards up the field and job done
Then I hear from my pocket “I could hear the thump from here”

Spotted at 300yds. Got down to 30! It was busy watching a hare in striking distance as I rounded a pine tree hedge nearly on top of it. Quietly got the rifle on it but it had moved further away.
Got the rifle on it again and it was sniffing the air. The wind was swirling and it had smelt me so legged it off to the wood before I was ready to shoot.
I got in position and hit the squealing rabbit on my caller and back out he came at speed straight towards me!

i took advantage of a gap/day without rain and got out for a few hours
#6-#7 a dog and a vixen and back home by 9.45pm
only to wake up this morning to rain again
god is it ever going to stop!!!!
last summer i remember people saying it was never going to rain again lol
