Is this a good Foxing rifle in .223 ?

I am looking at the Tikka T3x Ace Game rifle in .223 for Foxing, primarily shooting off Rekon tripod (Arca) and using the bipod (Arca) and rear bag.

Most of my permissions I can use the 4x4 to get around or the Mule UTV, which minimises walking distances with the weight of gear I would have to carry. Big fields hence my rifle choice.

It really depends on you and your style of shooting. The rifle and cartridge will do everything you need it to. For me it would be useless as 99.9% of my foxes are shot from quad sticks and I don’t like using a chassis with sticks, so all my field rifles have sporter style stocks.

For you it may well work well, or not quite be right, it depends on how you will use the rifle and that can only be as we’re by you.

I have a T3lite fitted into a Boyds stock with a Senopex s 10 on the top , 55g BTs doing 3350 fps, I have no probs taking fox,s at 300 , I do think
you are over thinking it a little , and all mine are off a carbon Tri pod

If you like it buy it! I would suggest handling any rifle before committing to buying one.

As regards to weight and barrel length I think you’ll be fine with how your shooting foxes and barrel length of 20 or 24 can be down to your personal preference on how it makes the gun feel in hand. I prefer shorter as it’s easier to move around in the truck.

I shoot a Howa 1500 varmint barrel with 18.5inch barrel MDT XRS with arca rail ( hog saddle fitted when I have multiple rifles with me )

Clip into the two vets QDT tripod and sit out and wait. Ridiculously stable

Your distances sound reasonable. My furthest with my setup is 283m at night.

Best advice is learn your rifle and capabilities only you know how far you can shoot comfortably

Nice setup. Two vets are at least as good as the Rekon without anything you don't need on top. What mod are you using?

I’ve had a set of reckon and the QDT is in a completely different league. Can see why all the pro PRS guys run them

The mod is a wildcat mate, just been taped until I splurge on the wildcat mod cover

Where is the best place to buy the QDT and do they offer a bolt on ball swivel with arca ? What model QDT would you recommend? Is that a .223 with the Wildcat Evolution model mod. Looking for the quietest mod I can find. Sorry about all the questions. 😅

I bought mine off here.

I think C2 precision do them with arca clamp but it’ll run you £1000

Yes mate tbh all mods are pretty close. The new svemko mods do look very impressive
