Hi guys currently shooting a Howa 1500 .308 and used 150gn federal Powershok but need to develop a reload or buy some copper factory ammo but wondered what people have found to be good ?

Thanks

I am using fox 130gn over N140 with good results, Ed at Edinburgh Rifles sells the ammo and gave me the recipe,
Key is the AOL is shorter - as the shoulder or the copper bullet differs from the norm.
Anyway, very accurate and the deer don’t seem to mind.
Use at your own risk.

Fox 130gn over 46gn N140

AOL 69.5mm

Should have added it’s coming out of a sako 85 - dunno the barrel length without a measuring tape

And if you are using Federal Powershok 150gn most ammo is going to improve things.
Gave them up a while back, off the shelf Sako blade ammo gets good reviews but it’s costly.
Barnes TTSX or Fox works but again, not cheap.
I ran privi 150 when doing a lot might be worth trying those although they are heavier bullets. If you are near Henry Krank roll the dice?

I meant the new privi copper option, don’t know if it’s good, bad or ugly but it’s not mental money

Have a look at the YewTree Field Sports copper bullets, will have to home load. Any questions just drop Rich a line, he is super helpful,

THAC are very good.
If you intend to use the 150g in a .308, you will need to use RS40, because Vhit N140 or 540 are too bulky to seat the bullet anywhere near 2.800.
My friend uses the 131g in .308 and has great success using N140.

Lots of non lead for 308
130-150gr range will suit most UK species and sticking to non frangible, weight retaining designs will improve carcass quality

Drop me a line if we can help
We have hornady, nosler, barnes, Sako, Fox Classic, Peregrine, and other in stock
Most we have already developed loads for and supply Factory ammo in Fox and Peregrine and all major brands including federal, hornady, norma, rws, barnes, sellier&bellot, etc

Me and 2 others are shooting 152 grain lehigh defense controlled chaos for testing.

So far they seem to work very fine.
Frangible, but we havent experienced excessive carcass damage compared to other bullets.

Extremely(!) precise across at least three rifles.

As above, Fox 130gn factory from Ed at @Edinburgh Rifles is working very well for me. 25 roe in having changed from Sako 123gn Gamehead (lead) and I don’t notice much difference, maybe a bit less meat damage but they drop the same. I don’t see what the fuss is with copper, except the cost!

Another one for Fox Classic Hunter. I use150 grain with N540 powder in a Sako 75. Good accuracy shooting Red, Roe and Sika out to 300 yards.
