sounds daft but asking for a mate
his using, Hornady .243 75gr SST factory ammo at the moment for his foxing round in a Howa 1500
but is looking for a copper round to replace it
has anyone got any experience with copper factory ammo that they are using in Howa 1500 as a starting point for him
he only shoots around 40-60 rounds a year so doesn't want to go down the reloading route
most of his foxes are shot within 150yds so no long range shots
any help will be welcome
cheers
Ian

got it in one, stupid if you ask me, but there we are,
its either that or he sells the .243 and drops down to a .223 and carry's on using lead.
Im not quite understanding you here. Could you explain a little more plz?
You want to move to copper in .243 but then mention stepping down to a .223 but carry on using lead. Surely you would just carry on with lead in .243 or am i missunderstanding somsthing here? Cheers

Unfortunate if the land happens to identify as a range 👀
The Definition of a range will not be up to the ability of you for it to identify itself as a range.

Instead the range operator will have to submit an application to a relevant authority demonstrating that it has taken the measures as far as possible to capture any lead bullets and prevent any access to domestic or wild animals to that lead and to prevent any leaching into watercourses etc. the relevant authority (not yet defined) will have to approve the range and range operators and that you will need to continue to operate inna proscribed manner. In practice this will mean that gallery type ranges operated by clubs and or commercial operations will be exempt, probably out of the scope of a typical deer stalkers zeroing range.

Earlier this week on Radio 4, File on 4 was a programme entitled “Rivers of Lead” and the problems being caused by leachate from old lead mines and how it turning up in food products. The critical take away is that it’s clear the Powers that Be, know full well of the challenges but very very little survey work is actually being done and they would rather not lift the bonnet, and just kick the can down the road.

Its 2025, you can be whatever you want and can identify things as you see fit 👍😂

…problems being caused by leachate from old lead mines and how it turning up in food products.

Great: Millions of tons of lead in mines are supposedly leaking into our food supply, allegedly causing health concerns, but the real issue is the 120 grain bullet from my Sako.

Luckily my name’s on an FAC, so the politicians can hold me to account.

(That noise they’re hearing on the International Space Station? That’s my eyes rolling.)

it would be illegal to use lead in the .243 but not in the .223 .017" makes hell of a lot of different's when it comes to the government and lead
