Drying coats

Must admit the Equa fleece jumpers are pretty good.

Possibly this shows wot a tight skinflint i am.
But have always thought of canabalising an old knackered fleece jacket and stiching it up to make a dog jumper.
Ive heard off others doing similar and works well.

Second week of practice getting Rua in the drying bag.
As usual the day started with the mind over matter stare from Rua as in I mind and you master (huh!) don’t matter.

As usual it went from “good girl” with lots of laughter to bast*rding bag/dog in fairly short order. Only shame prevents me from showing the video
As usual the sodding bag ended up in a tangled heap in the corner; beside the other tangled heap in the corner - me.
As usual a second consolatory coffee ensued whilst ol FB gathered himself and looked forward with only moderate enthusiasm to tomorrow’s bout.
Then the sainted Lady FB entered the fray. Lots of hugs and kisses set the scene (don’t be daft lads)…
Then some gentle manouvering…

A wriggle and a squirm…

More wriggling and quite a lot more squirming…

And then…

Sooo the trick is - let Rua have her food dish throughout all ten rounds and get Lady FB to do it. Simples….
Tomorrow is “first doing it in the car” day.. (that brought some fond but rather distant mammories memories back - pause for schoolboy giggles from the SD massive)….
Rematch tomorrow - might even be streamed live.
Wot fun…

Do they work? Do they need washing every time? Just looking for something to put on her on drive home so she bit cleaner by time we get back.
If you have a proper Lab that is mainly outside and makes a line to the colder / drafty parts of the house when it enters the house . I will be just fine , i have only once actually washed one of my labs . They have generally bedded down in the back of the pickup or on the rear seat (secured ) by harness.
Only issue i have had is one decided he could just about get through by the sliding vent more open . He plopped onto the back seat and claimed the empty front seat with me driving !! Stopped walked him round the back and secured the hatch better !
my dogs are only brought into the house only occasionally get inside the house and frankly they soon pester me to go back out to the kennels

Nah mate, she cuddles me on sofa every night!!

Before all these fancy coats n bags came on the scene for dogs I used n still do the old fashioned heavy hessian sacks
With a draw string in the top end.
I just hold them open n the dog either walks in or crawls in
Tie up around the neck lift into car Dogs warm n dry by the time we get home
Sacks then turned inside out to dry na good shake ready for the next time

Ours used to get a good rub down with a towel then in the pub in front of the log burner.
And i warmed through with a pint.

It depends how much you are working your dogs too. Keeping ours taking in as many calories as possible as well as drying them off asap and warming them up is very important as they are working 5-6 days a week. It doesn’t matter how tough you think your dogs are, if they are out in the wet working every day of the week, and then lay wet most of the night it really starts to take a toll on them. It takes a lot of effort to keep your dogs in tip top condition if they are working full time opposed to a couple or 3 days a week.

Well i would not ever work a dog 5 days straight let alone 6 ! unless that work is largely in the back of a truck for most of the day . I live on high moor and none of the sheep farmers work their dog 5-6 full days
