Hikmicro SQ35 3.0 or the SQ50L 3.0

Hi guys need some advice please........

I can't decide between the above two.

Alot of my shooting is woodland at the moment so no more than 50m to 150m which the SQ35 would be good for with its wide F.O.V. for quick scanning for thermal signature and locating the target quickly.
But as I am spending the money id like to consider a thermal that caters for both woodland and maybe a little bit of open field too such as SQ50 which i believe would be good for up to 150+m

Has anyone used the above units for either woodland or open field or both and can advise me whether either one is better than the other for doing both types of shooting.

Kind Regards
Marty

Hi,
I have the sq50L on my .223 it’s way more useable than 150m. It primary job is foxing.
I’m after a 35 or the 25 nocpix bolt to go on the .22lr. I’d say at the closer ranges the field of view on the 50 would be a hinderance as with anything close with mine, when transitioning from spotter to the scope I have to make a solid reference to its location so as to find it easily in the scope. Otherwise opportunities can be lost easily.

Cheers

Hi T.

Thanks for your reply. So your saying that you getting use out of your sq50l at 150m +
And may be a slight disadvantage at closer ranges?

You say you’re after a 35? That being a hik sq35?

Hello Marty,
Apologies my response to your post was rushed on my lunch break.

The SQ50L is fantastic in my opinion. It’s been very reliable and its clarity and definition are great. I’m a part time keeper so I have to be as efficient with my time as possible as I can be. It’s taken foxes from 35yrds out to 220yrds on my .223. I use it in conjunction with a hik falcon 50. In reference to your query from your original post.
I came from a pulsar xg35 lrf and an alpex 4K. I would find myself spotting with the pulsar and seeing something that was fox like and warranted further inspection and switch to the 4K only to find it a hare/rabbit at a funny angle or a brock.
With the falcon 50 I can say 100% it’s a fox. Both the falcon and the stellar SQ50L have a narrow field of view, in the early days with the haste switching to the scope, I would have trouble locating the fox again or miss the opportunity. So I’ve learnt that when transitioning from eyebox to eyebox I need to ID the target but also reference the backdrop and direction of travel of the fox to pick it up quickly within the scope. E.g small hawthorn off the wall, left to right quartering to me.
This has proved effective for me.
The closer it is the more time I spend observing where, what it’s with and the direction it is heading. All this is done on ground that is quite open.
If your ground is denser and has more cover I feel the 35 offering from hik would suit you better especially if the majority of shots you take are at the lower end of the ranges you speak of.

As stated I'm looking for a stellar 3 sh35 for use on the .22lr for situations where the .223 would be to much gun and noise.
But I would advocate you attending a demo where you can assess each against your needs.
Hope that clarifies my earlier comments
Kind regards
Tim.
