Hikmicro LH25 3.0 vs Pulsar Helion 2 xp50?

Hi all - I am looking for a thermal for stalking primarily in woodland, some fields. I would like to be able to detect (not necessarily identify) deer from about 100m out to say 800m or so ideally. I had pretty much decided my best bet was likely to be new Hikmicro LH25 3.0 but it's just come to my attention that for very little more I could probably get a used Pulsar Helion 2 xp50, which whilst older I gather are v well regarded.

I was thinking that 50mm would be too much/too small FOV, but I notice the base mag on the Helion 2 xp50 is pretty low, which I presume might help/ make it viable? Or is it better to go with the new tech of the Hik?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Talk to Sussexsteve as he has a a Xp Pro for sale on here. He sees/culls more fallow in a month than most people see in a year.

Hi SD198,

Did you bottom out your conundrum regarding which thermal to go for, did you decide do go for the Hik?

I have much the same dilemma and cant decide between the Hikmacro Stella sq35l 3.0 or the sq50l.

The 35 has a lower base mag and better FOV for woodland, but not sure if the 50 would still be ok for woodland then be able to use it for more mid range too if needed.

Regards

Hi - in the end I pushed my budget a little more and bought a used Hik Condor 2 cq35l - so half way house between the 2 I mentioned in my post. It seems to work brilliantly in both woodland and open areas and I am v pleased. There have certainly been some woodland scanning scenarios where I was glad I didn't have a more restrictive FOV.
