where are you looking ?Deer aren't a big problem in Yorkshire or the North of England in General.... so i doubt you'd need a night licence anyway!

whilst i agree boots on the ground is needed , a friend of mine in south yorkshire had 50 reds feeding in 2 small fields on the peaks district this morning andHow about you tell us where there's a deer problem in the North of England? and if it's such a problem why do a vast majority of stalkers from the North of England join syndicates in Scotland?
And why are there no Forestry England or other events promoting the need to control deer in large numbers up here, like the are down south?
I know reds in Cumbria have been a bit difficult to get to grips with in certain areas, but as for yorkshire and Northumberland there aren't masses of deer that need jumping on like down south...the deer problems are down south.
And I've been in the industry for 30 years and have noticed that numbers have not risen to the problematic stage in the North, in fact some areas there is a noticeable lack of big numbers.
I don't think there is an issue that needs a night license that's for sure, it needs boots on the ground if anything.
Northumberland and Durham now have a lot of Roe, they are everywhere now as traditionally a lot of areas are unshot. How about you tell us where there's a deer problem in the North of England? and if it's such a problem why do a vast majority of stalkers from the North of England join syndicates in Scotland?

What numbers do you expect to take off your new 10k block?Northumberland and Durham now have a lot of Roe, they are everywhere now as traditionally a lot of areas are unshot.
None .What numbers do you expect to take off your new 10k block?
Yes they are. 640 minimum.Do I read right that they are specifying the thermal sensor spec you have to use?
This is why people get fed up with these things. Let people get on with it
No 24 hours before. Police and relevant licensing department. Not sure if that requires two different contact authors or they just don't know their rear end from their elbow. So the HIK SH and a bunch of the pulsars that are being used a lot aren’t legal according to the new license? What a pain and unnecessary.
We have to notify the police when we start and finish - just a 5 minute call to 101 and it works pretty well.
absolutely ridiculousCondition 7: notify others
- Before taking action under the licence you must:
- inform the local police and relevant firearms licensing authority at least 24 hours before any night shooting
- notify the owners or occupiers of adjoining land in advance if it is reasonable to conclude that the use of this land will be affected or disturbed by night shooting.
True but I don't really agree with the notion because that's part of deer shooting. Don't take the shot if you aren't sure. Granting night licence doesn't give you the right to shoot stuff out of season. You have to admit though, qualifying species AND sex is going to be difficult with thermal unless you have a decent spec sensor.
True, my thermal bins are 640 so you'd think that would suffice for IDTrue but I don't really agree with the notion because that's part of deer shooting. Don't take the shot if you aren't sure. Granting night licence doesn't give you the right to shoot stuff out of season.
You could be using a night vision spotter or a higher spec thermal spotter (or multi spectral etc). Or scope with both NV and thermal.
The onus is on the shooter just as much as it is in the day time.
640 is fine but 50mm minimum focal length puts most thermal scopes out of specYes they are. 640 minimum.
It's written, to my mind, like they just discovered the notion of shooting at night. Inform the police AND FLD 24 hours before you shoot etc.
I can see the reporting the to them to some degree. I guess they need data on it is actually being used but the reporting to the police just seems absolutely ridiculous. How many people are out foxing with centre fires....
