4 Leg Shooting Sticks. Any good?

Mine are getting ridiculous 🙈 I have 4’s but I also have a 5th leg and a looped strap.

5 legs are v good when shooting from the car park or grassy field or something. The 5th leg is more of a hindrance than a help in long stuff/heather hence the loop. I can get my foot into it and get some tension into the system. Sort of a fifth leg but not quite as good.

The idea was I would take the 5th off when I was going stalking in the long stuff but actually it is handy having a tripod when out and about.

I can always shoot 4 as a 2

The 5th leg is just some you don’t need, personally I can’t see the point in it. I’ve certainly never needed it.!

Dont you start.....I personally am not as feral as you and have not shot as many deer so every thing that aids me with my "special needs" is of benefit. I feel the 5th leg gives me confidence in a rock solid platform and for that reason will not be removing it....so there 🥰

Special needs 🙈😂😂😂 next you’ll be wanting to get someone to tie the bugger down too

Perfect. When we do the CWD could you do that for me please? Also dont go beyond 50 yards as my Creed will struggle

I would be happy if you shoot them first then prop them up in the field. Add a long piece of string then when I miss you can make them fall over.:lol:

Use a 145gn soft points and you’ll be fine

Quad sticks are a game changer. I have the viper flex quads, with the 5th leg and they are my most important piece of equipment! Rock
steady firing position! I even zero from mine as opposed to a bench!

Acquired a set s/h from one of the guys I stalk with last year. Have carried them around a lot but so far only shot one deer from them & that’ll probably be the last as I found them very unstable to use due to them being too short for me - I had to bent over to use them rather than being able to stand up straight like I do with my double sticks. Might look to see if there’s a way I can extend the legs… now that’s got me 🤔 - time for a wanted post I think 👍

You talking about the vipers? What height are you?

With sticks placed parallel to your legs, rocking back and forth in the wind etc, does not results in vertical stringing. Hence no need for and rope 👍
It's more the case that with standing on the rope I can push slightly into the sticks, it does make my position a little more stable and tightens groups up a touch. Definitely made a difference to me.
