Keeping dry up the highseat.

Now, I am not a fan of getting wet, or cold. So, I thought I would give this a go, having sat up high seats in the persisting rain, this seemed like a good thing to try.
Cost me £15. What the hell.
I’m hoping I haven’t made a bobo and just bought the cloth. Soon see.

I use these quite often. Stalking, dog walking, whenever I need to keep dry I use it. With wellies, its about as waterproof as you can get.

99 percent sure i bought mine for about 20 quid a good few years ago mind 😂

Go for full protection and get one of these all in one hide with chair inside. Remove the seat and attaché the hide to your high seat. They’re available in single or double width. Total protection and surprisingly warm too.

The trick is plan your stalking with the weather, I look at the weather/wind direction for the week, later in the week the wind is from the East so I will go to blocks which suit North/East and little rain.
If you want to keep dry go to a farm supplies and buy the green over trousers and coat big enough to go over your kit.
A decent wind and your brolly will be inside out.
Good luck.

Bought one of these from Bushwear in their clearance a few years back for £15 and had the opportunity to use it in anger a month ago on a friend’s high-seat fallow shoot when it started to get unpleasant in the rain. After 3 hours on that Sunday morning, I was really glad I bought it and had remembered to stuff it in the rucksack!

Knocked up a steel frame 25mm box, bolted to high Seat back, 2 cross sections front and back then fixed bitumen roofing sheet on top. Also added sides and a back that drops down over Seat to keep dry.

How do you get on with the mod. I have heard good reports about them.

F&D UTS131 (ie 131g) on a T3X .270 - great mod! Not necessarily the quietest (I wish we had an updated Edinburgh Rifles test) but its so light that you don't know its on the end of the barrel and honestly, I cannot detect any discernible difference to the UTS231 that I use on one of my .308s or the Wildcat Evos I use for range work. Three pulls through with a bore snake after use and a spray of Napier Silensave from either end is all it gets after being allowed to dry out in a warm room.

I went with a larger thread this time (M18) and have adapters to fit M14, M15 and 5/8x24 so I can use it on any of my CF rifles (its a 30 cal mod).
