Prime example of going into quick, I still run by the rules of shoot it pour a cup of coffee and roll a smoke and when it’s finished flapping about going and sort it out!

No, it wasn't an example of going in too quick on this particular occasion, but it it is a good example of what an apparently incapacitated deer can do.

(Like you, I always crack open my flask and smoke a roll-up before approaching any deer I've shot. The one that headbutted me was not a deer I'd shot).

Then why didn’t you shoot it?

Self preservation is always first Order of the day!

I had a client one morning out in the red rut , had a red stag come right up to us with 10 yards. I told the client that takes one more step shoot it!

And if it was in your park, then you shouldn’t I’ve had the food bucket in your hand😂😂😂😂

Must say I’m a bit shocked you strayed from the “ best practice “
Jesus... All I've done is rightly point out that best practice for CL55 has been made mandatory. I didn't write the best practice guides and I'd have thought the older and wiser stalkers wouldn't have found it so triggering as to need to pick apart every mistake someone has made in the first 2 seasons of stalking.

Get some perspective people

A new bit of legislation is just what it is paper work which is easy to quote, the hands on part is what counts in my book as that is "what we do"
But everyday is a school day...
I did something similar while doing a zero check - and got a telling off for leaving my gun unattended! We all keep learning indeed.

Calm down dear , not triggering at all to moi I just said I found it odd

One

One has to ask the question, why did you leave your rifle 200 yards away?

That’s a risk. I don’t think you want to be making.
There is no way I would leave my baby on its own without daddy

On a serious note the example was actually with 2 guys I know and they used to park up and set the rifles up on the back of the pickup and wait for the Sika to come out. Shot taken and 1 of the guys went over after to do recovery. Fortunately he had a knife with him.

Obviously if you are on your own you would never leave your rifle unattended 👍

So he was leaving his rifle with someone who was not authorised to be in possession of it?
Tut tut tut!
🙃

I knew someone would come up with that comment  Safer then leaving the rifles unnattended in a locked vehicle with bolts removed though but appreciate the point 👍
