No idea what the situation is with BASC/Lantra/DMQ, first I’ve heard of this.
What I do know is that there is something very very unpleasant and uncomfortable when an individual takes so much pleasure in blatantly causing trouble. Not a nice character trait in anyone.

Is this about dsc1 being delivered on line by different organisations? I don’t even know what any of them stand for or do. Only really seems important if you want to be a name in the deer world.
At the end of the day everyone just learns the answers to multiple choice questions (and therefore have base level knowledge) and then they have to perform some basic level shooting which will still be tested in person.
Might as well be on line.
Candidates will miss out on meeting people which I really enjoyed but the content is easily delivered online.

If you mean basc I agree ! Hes doing nothing basc and other orgs aren’t doing , pushing money making schemes

He is the Chris Packham of the stalking world. A complete self opinionated narcissist. He has been dishing out his PDS course assessor certificates to anyone, one of which I know only started stalking 5 years ago.
i know of has chap not been stalking 5 years now a dsc aw ? whats the difference ? this is what i dont understand , people are happy to point out this guy is making money from courses yet point out that dmq basc bds et el are doing the same and the shutters go down ....???

I don't doubt it that this is happening. This guy should just get on with his own knitting and leave the BDS, DMQ to sort itself out.

Surely they have to hold a formal Assessor qualification?
i think youre missing my point , hes not doing anything dmq dont do so why the outcry ?
I like PJ as he is putting himself out there and taking the stick, fair play he is finding a way for a living in these hard times.
It is no different to "guides" leaving MJ Bucks in the summer so come the winter some one will cough up a heap of cash as it was left

I read this and just laugh, the longer I sit back and look at how deer stalking has become, I really am glad I’m heading to the door!

no but as you know in shooting and diving a lot will seek the shot cuts as they can't arsed to gain the grass roots bit a time experience.
What do you think to the first part of my post about guides leaving MJ bucks? as the diving part was a end example

I've got nothing against the PDS (although personally i prefer the BDS structure).
What I don't understand is how Peter thinks its acceptable to try promote his business (which he personally benefits from) by tearing down a charity that offers a similar product on a non-profit basis. Its just bang out of order. Peter isn't in this for the good of the industry, its a cash-cow for him I think him acting in this way is deplorable.

Tim, what you don’t understand is some stalkers do this for a living, antlers make money people need to live, you need metal to live no different.
Some people want to guide on clients for trophies you shoot them out of hand like a pest it is what it is. Everybody has their ways of doing things.
I’ve done and seen both sides of the coin.

heap now, DMQ made it easier knocking it down from 3 to 1 stalk, it’s nowhere near the standard to what it was nowadays you don’t need a clean rag the polish your rifle because there’s so much bull**** now everything’s coatedSimilar threads
