Howa 1500

Hi all
Anyone know if the howa 1500 in 7mm rm is up to the job?
Steve

The Howa 1500 is well known for being pretty much bombproof!

If you want arrival that’s practically indestructible. Look for a Ruger M77. I was fashionable are kicking the balls but a rifle that will never let you down and it’s bloody accurate.

My mate has shot 100’s of deer with his Howa 1500 7mm rem mag.
Personally I don’t like it, the action feels clunky to me but it’s definitely more than up to the job.

Certainly will be.

Don't have experience with 7mm
I have the .223 flavour.

As stated above. Pretty much bombproof.

A very esteemed gunsmith said to me when I was having my barrel shortened. 'Bloody strong guns these'

If you are into labels then certainly look at the expensive names. But things are no less dead being shot with Howa 1500 than with a Tikka/Sako

The money I saved not buying a Tikka allowed me to afford the barrel shortening, SL5 moderator and stock bedding done on my Howa.

Get the right ammunition to go with it and 10mm groups at 100m will be more than achievable.

Up to what job? Proper integral recoil lug, cold hammer forged barrels, bolt built from a solid piece of steel. Howa's might be unrefined but they are solid and reliable.
Our club uses 2 x Howa 1500's in 308Win for target shooting and they are excellent in that role. These are for folks who don't as yet, have their own firearms and I'd have to say that both rifles are well regarded and bombproof.

Ive got two in 6.5 cm - one in an HS Precision stock and one in a Gary Canes laminated thumbhole sporter - very happy with both.
