Bullet ID help

[8x57]

I was told they were Prvi Partizan when i got them but couldnt find anything on there website that looked remotely similar with the double cannelure or the staking

The closest so far is the suggestion of Norma Silverblixt as the images of loaded 30-06 rounds look to have the same bullet

Its more that i would like to know before i load them if a definate id is made and they and still available then if they shoot accurately i can get some more, if they are no longer available then i'll just load them to use as practice or plinking rounds

I would be inclined to believe what you were told i.e. that they are PPU.

If they are Prvi then they would have been imported by Henry Krank so give them a call or email them describing the bullet and they will be able to confirm or deny it. Quite possibly it may be a line that has since been dropped or even something new that isn't in the online catalogue.

First post here after the intro.....

I was doing an internet search to try to determine the age of some 6.5 bullets I have......and came across this website.

I believe finnbear270 is correct. That bullet shown in the initial post is almost certainly a bullet made by Canadian Industries Limited (CIL) and is a bullet designed to be loaded and fired in the .30-30 Winchester cartridge. I have loaded them at some point but have none here, as CIL have long been out of business. I do have a box of bullets for the .32 Special, which demonstrate that same "staking" near the base of the bullet. If I can figure out photos here I will submit one.

The Norma Silverblixt bullet has a silver-coloured metal (nickel I think) for the outer core and that distinctive yellow tip. In Canada they used to be called Norma Dual-core bullets.

The silver-coloured one? aka Silverblixt? Nope. But hey I am new here and not wanting to cause a fuss. Just trying to add some Canadian knowledge about a bullet that surely appears to be a Canadian bullet.

Sorry 100% Lapua Naturalis without a doubt, ive loaded and shot them, plus I’ve never seen a lead bullet with the rings down the projectile, only copper bullets in my experience have that, ive loaded and shot enough of them to know the difference.

Sorry, no way are they Naturalis - they have cannelures which the Naturalis doesnt, they are staked which the Naturalis isn’t, they have yellow tips when Naturalis are green & the profile is different. I have boxes of Naturalis under the loading bench so more than happy to put up a comparison photo this evening when back from work if required.

The two grooves are for col of a 3030 and further out for common 308/30/06 loading.
Possibly 300 Savage too. 303 Savage as well.

The only way to truly find out is cut it in half, if it’s solid copper with a faded tip it’s the Lapua Naturalis!

It’s not a cannelure in this bullet, it’s crimping to avoid core jacket separation and hold it together better. These are the reasons the nosler partition became so successful as well of course
