Critical Bleed Training - Bisley - 9th May

I’m doing something similar here in Ireland, REC3, or Remote Emergency Care. A lot of acronyms to be learnt but the practical side of things, CPR,defibrillator use, bandaging potentially fractured legs and arms etc is quite enlightening and worthwhile.

It’s the sort of thing we all hope we’ll never need - Simon at Steelfoot lost his leg in a bike accident and would have died if not for someone trained in tourniquet use… hence he’s running this course.

All of us are regularly alone or in remote locations using knives and guns so it seems a great idea to have some knowledge of critical bleed treatment 👍🏻

The only downside to first aid training, especially when you start talking advanced stuff is 'working' on yourself. I could help anyone I'm out with including the dog but when you're out on your tod in the middle of nowhere, you're probably screwed anyway!

Having said that, everyone should know some first aid anyway, even if its just proficient CPR

The thing is not to panic,l know it sounds simplistic, assess the mess you are in.
Try to think.
Then act.
Have kit and contact means on you.

Anyway, its what the course is for if you have not been in the sith yourself.

Well worth doing. We have some Israeli bandages, cellulox and general wound bleed stopping stuff in the 1st aid kit. Not so worried about a shooting accident more breaking a leg or a knife slipping and a wound that way.

I’m a CPR 1st responder but I doubt that’ll be much use up in some of the places we get to without someone else to help as likely be waiting for a chopper to assist.
