250-3000 savage loading

Friend with 25-06 is using the Fox 100gn bullet with good effect. I think the 250 Savage was originally designed for lighter bullets - 85 ish grain, so likely will need a 80 ish grain copper bullet to stabilise. 25 cal not popular in the UK so not a huge choice of bullets methinks.

My wife has a Cooper Custom Classic in 250 Sav Ackley Improved which we reload for.
With 40 grains of Reloader 15 we are getting 3088 fps with a 100 grain Sierra Game King from a 22" barrel. It is a great cartridge and accuracy is amazing.
Fire forming the cases is very easy and they too were very accurate.

Yes, took me over a year and lots of consumables to get there but I have 3 loads that are all deer legal, one 100 gr for old Scottish large deer legal and 80 gr TTSX ready for the ban. Running a 25” 1:10 barrel on a tikka m595, magnum primers are a must so it is running close to the max pressure. It’s also throated long and I load it to 2.460” to make the most of powder space, so the magazine had to be modified to feed.

A right faff! But I love it 😂.

250-3000 with its extra capacity paired with modern powders should be much simpler to get there.
Cracking looking Roe Buck, thank you for your thoughts.

What an amazing head. Were you able to watch him develop over the years?
No, he just appeared one year, there's an estate between my 2 pieces of ground that don't do a lot of deer control, I think he arrived from over from there. He came over in the doe season, still in velvet, I really didn't know whether to shoot him but after seeing him 5-6 times and a good opportunity presenting I took the shot.

He was, some good genes in the area as 3 golds have come off in the last few years and a few i haven't had measured that should go at least bronze. A few medal munties about as well :)
Frankly I am just happy to see a deer ...but I chose Mid Wales to live lol. The one advantage with having poor quality heads on the bucks I get to shoot is I don't have to think about it ...more difficult if you are trying to leave the decent ones...also brings the option of head shots to the table (not wanting to kick an argument off...just saying :)) .
