Speck of dust

I recently purchased a second hand Swarovski Z8i. Absolutely fantastic scope and to my eye is crystal clear. However 2 friends of mine who are a good bit older have looked through it and said there is a small spec inside the reticle. They both described it the same but one said he could see it slightly lower down than the other person. Anyway no matter how hard I look for it I can’t see it. I would say my eyesight is spot on. I asked my wife to look though and she couldn’t see it either. Can anyone explain this? Cheers

Did the two friends spot it independently of one another, or were they together at the time?
Could it be that they're simply winding you up about this scope that you're so pleased with?

And besides, if it works it works. I don't think I'd be worrying about a speck of dust I couldn't even see, whether real or fictitious!

What is it with eye floaters? Noticing them a lot more now I’m in my 50’s
Brilliant eye sight till I had them checked, Cataracts in both, now been removed now have a floater in left eye not effecting my shooting rifle or clay busting. My Swarovski scopes are now even brighter. To the OP' as said above crack on and enjoy your scope, your mates are winding you up.

BC.

I thought this but they were both separate occasions and I told the second person who definitely wouldn’t wind me up but I didn’t tell him where the first person had seen it

if it was me i wouldnt worry about it, its your scope your the one using it, crack on or it will be a maggot in your brain every time you look through it and in the end you will sell it because that speck is doing your nut in :thumb:
The thing is I can’t even see it so it can’t bother me. Just curious why 2 other people can see something that I can’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

You sure it’s not just a dirty ocular lens then?

It might appear in different places if it’s on the ocular, if the two users moved the focus and turned the focus lens

That’s interesting but yeah I’ve wiped both lenses with a proper lense cloth and they look spotless to me

Thanks for all your replies! Like I said I personally can’t actually see it so it’s hard to get bothered by something that’s not there 😂 I just found it odd that others could.
