Well it was warm today and my study cool so bit the bullet so to speak and reloaded my first reloads
270 120gr virtus eagle lead free
Vhit 160 54.3 gr
Mag tech LR Primers
Once fired NORMA brass
Felt pokey and pleased with accuracy bar the last shot
Why the sooty necks ?
If neck was clean I don’t think I’d tamper with it till I gain experience
Be gentle on me 🤪

Sooty necks could be a number of things, hard brass, lack of obturation from low powder charge (not enough pressure to expand the brass to seal the chamber, this could be connected to hard brass) But if they where mine i wouldnt be over concerned as long as the powder charge is not lower than starting load and the powder is suitable. Not having manuals to hand i cant say, but im sure you have checked before you started 👍 Norma brass is good stuff.

Personally I’ve never worried about a bit of soot!

Bullets is accurate that’s all that matters, welcome to the black magic club

The sooty necks aren't really an issue. Only becomes an issue if the soot goes further down the case shoulder & body - that would then be a result of hardened brass & lack of obturation (Brass failing to seal properly in the chamber) - Annealing would solve that issue.
Maybe a LR Magnum primer would help with a hotter propellant burn
