I’m looking to do my dsc2 and need to find a witness for ideally a practice and then the witnessed stalk. I would need it to be on your/ there ground as I’ve shot my cull animals before the rut.
I’m in Hampshire between Southampton and Winchester.

Why the practice?

You should be more than ready to do your 1 stalk for L2

If you need a practice , you’re not ready you have not shot enough deer yet.

Apologies it it sound harsh but that’s the reality of it.

To be honest I think I am ready just to do the dsc2 but I’ve heard it’s a good idea to do a practice day to iron out any bad habits and learn some new things I could improve on.

I shot 100 deer before I even signed up for L2, that’s was 20 years ago, when things were done properly and not a 1 stalk wonder!

I’ve shot plenty of deer. It’s quite normal to do a practice stalk and then do an assessment.

If he wants to do a practice stalk that's up to him and it will probably help. It's always the same when people ask about DSC1 or DSC2. You get all of the know it alls telling you you aren't ready because you asked a question .
It seems that some people use it as an excuse for the old my c£&k is bigger than yours.

If you have registered for the DSC2 you should get a list of witnesses in your area but I would advise contacting several as there are plenty on the list that don't appear to want to do the witnessing and won't even respond. I found that the BASC witnesses were the best to deal with. They will at least reply to your request.

I am far a hater of the stalkers, I’m a hater of the waste of time, rush them through DMQ L2 system

The 3 stalk system was far more superior

Ian Farrington, IanF on here. He is not a million miles form you and will be able to offer exactly what you are looking for. He also happens to be an absolute gent with a massive amount of knowledge and quite rearly the ability to pass it on

Korda are introducing "The Kompetent Karper" qualification soon, you have to catch three different 40 pounders (witnessed) before you can get the certificate... then you can fish all their lakes unaccompanied.

It’s less time consuming and easier logistically but in essence if you are competent the actual shooting and processing of 1 or 3 deer is no different really

That’s the problem nowadays, people are signing up for it and they’re not competent, they’re shooting one or two Deer and then signing up for level 2 I think they’re ready.

Are they passing or failing, is there data available for the deer shot/dsc2 / pass fail rate?
