SAKO Finnfire P94S Ejection Problems

Springs were waiting for me when I got home last night (thank you again @safer!) I have only tried with empty casings but it seems to eject now 🎉 However I am slightly concerned how far the spring overhangs into the mag well?

Looks good to me… if it was overhanging too far the leading edge of the bolt wouldn’t get past the back of it. The side of the bolt does contact it to exert pressure and put the spring under some compression. As you slide the bolt in, you’ll see the front of the spring move across under that lip.

Cheers

Thanks Fizz. The bolt passes fine, so should be good to go then. I’ll see if I can get out later tonight or tomorrow morning and give it a go. 🤞

Hi DGAR089
It is meant to overhang because that is the spring action that kicks the brass out. That gets compressed with the bolt and as you pull the bolt back it releases the spring (green arrow) to kick the brass out of the extractor.
The spring is lose on one end so it will not damage the spring. It looks spot on in the picture. If the bolt is stiff or not going through then it is normally the second bend (red arrow) after the screw that is slightly to long. That bend has to be flush with the inside of the mag well as it is on your mag well. You can bend the spring ever so slightly on the bend marked with red arrow if it is not ejecting the brass right out of the rifle.
If the bolt is passing it smoothly there is nothing to worry about.

I may give it a touch on bend of the red arrow, the bolt is without a doubt smoother and empties are being ejected it’s maybe just a little bit stiffer than I’d like. I may as well do this before going out and re zeroing tomorrow. After cleaning the gunk out of the mag well and loosening the bolt holding it in a touch the mag is easier to release too which is also a bonus!
