An honest question?

Why is it all you see on the legal section, Is people moaning about medical and renewals?

New applications I understand they’re always going to be on the drag that is what it is always has been always will be, but renewals honestly!

Dealing with renewals is as simple as black and white, soon as it lands on the Mat book your medical however you should choose to go about your solution to the problem, me personally living in Norfolk we are told to submit our renewal before medical, personally what I did renewal paperwork, sent SPECIAL DELIVERY (pay the money) and medical work done and at the Doctors whole lot done within the first 48 hours of landing on my Mat!

I reload so no problem with the ammunition kickback and carry on.

When will you lot realise that a renewal is as simple as pull your finger out of your arse?

Think forward not backwards fill your tickets up with ammunition and roll with it because once it’s in their hands you’ve got time and time if your tickets are full means stalking, then it doesn’t matter how long it takes, ticket runs out you’ll get an extension and in my experience it will turn up a week before your extension runs out happy days it really is that simple!

Your opinion is only valid to you, cambs are an absolute joke.
Submitted all my paper work with good time,.
Had shotguns 15 years, rifles 10.
Took over 9 months, had to put all guns on girlfriends tickets. Because i was attacked when i was 19.
Ticket arrived back dated. How can the police commit fraud?
I couldnt have done anything differently.
Their office has no phone, wouldnt answer emails.
They used to be amazing, the new guy sees every body as a terror suspect.
If norfolk are good, lucky you.
But saying its that simple, is a bit simple.

It's simple, if you don't have any problems you've got nothing to ask or complain about, for many life isn't as simple as your example. Many don't get reminders (so everyone needs to know their expiry date), some Drs will not do the medical forms or will take a long time and many forces will not accept a paper renewal or accept a renewal without your medical form. Even then some people will not be granted an extension after the automatic one even.if their application was.complete and in on good time.

It's useful to be aware of this so you can plan ahead and also useful to see questions and the replies in case something happens to your renewal.

Gosh you made hard work of that, I did mine online my new certs were back in 3 weeks.

If you don’t get reminders, look on your ticket it has an expiry date, get moving in a month before it runs out. It really is a bloody simple.!

Exactly that think at least a month if not 2 before your exp date

You won't get the statutory extension if you leave it until the last month.

As someone said above, you're lucky with your location and circumstances, others aren't. They come here for advice and sometimes just to vent their frustration at a system that should be easy but isn't.

Coming here and saying "I'm alright, Jack", and inferring there's no problems anywhere except self-made, won't win you many friends.

that doesn’t bother me in the slightest, I gave up worrying about that years ago!😂😂
Your whole post is about how it is in Norfolk and for you, and therefore all the problems certificate holders face are self inflicted.

Well done, pat yourself on the back.

Many others aren't so lucky, and are having a tough time getting through the renewal process despite doing everything you did and in plenty of time, and still get the shaft. Many don't get the chance for a P2P after the extension expires so it is forced storage, not many places can take a larger collection, so advice needed.
They come here to vent, get advice and inform or warn others.

As an eg, my father's FAC expired in November 25, applied for renewal with all paperwork in June 25. Got the 2 month extension and then P2P, had his phone interview begining of June and got his certs back earlier this week. He's one of the luckier ones in BCH, only 11 months, 9 as a nonFAC holder.
Ok, he didn't moan on here about it, but he's 90 and the internet is something that happens to others, but I certainly heard about it.

If you don’t submit until a month before it runs out you're asking for problems… you won’t get an 8 week extension & if they take more than a month to issue the new certificates then you’ll have to deposit firearms & ammunition with an RFD etc.

I have a reminder set on my phone & after the debacle that was my last renewal I’ll be submitting mine 6 months before they run out!

Yep 6 months cock on!

Admittedly being under Norfolk is a blessing, the only ball ache is all the old FEO’s of now retired, now you’re having to deal with the next generation and it’s taking them a little time to get the swing of things

8 weeks minimum before. Worth asking your GP well in advance ie months as if they will do med cert cost and time and get that done first.
D

West Mids will send you a reminder weeks before you can actually put your renewal papers in. If you do it right away, they'll send the papers back and tell you to resubmit them in a few weeks. So the reminder is just a reminder to set a reminder. 🤦‍♂️

"Norfolk blessing" eh ? I live there and have held an SGC since they were invented. Early last year I handed in a couple of junk guns and asked for a new table 2 sheet. My FEO did the deletion on screen in his office and I got a new updated certificate in a couple of days. Excellent.

However, when I applied for renewal more than five months early, it went to the eight week extension (over six months total) and my new certificate arrived on the Wednesday just before the extension ended on Sunday. I am not unknown to my FEO as we have also had contact over my FAC renewals and variations - the FAC being out of phase with the SGC - and he is a nice enough chap. However, how it can take so long to issue an unchanged certificate to a known "client". I found it pretty stressful, and there is virtually nothing that can be done to expedite matters.

By the way, there is no such thing as an extension for an Explosives Certificate (for black powder) which is not issued until the SGC is renewed. Nobody seems too bothered.
