DSC2

Like I have said before many times, you can have as much kit as you want, but Kit does not substitute for experience!
Agreed. I have one of the winches Tom8 made and it makes life a lot easier. I detest gralloching anything on the deck ... but frankly I have no real desire to tackle red deer ... unless its with one of my mates who are better built then me.

To be fair I am probably still well in the "all the gear and not much idea" camp ... but alas we cant all be experts 🥰

Thanks @Jim W not at all, it's very kind and good of you to suggest and I will give due consideration to proceeding as suggested.

The form for the 'Candidate Narrative' of the stalk directs that it should only be uploaded to ones online system evidence portfolio by the assessor. He also wanted communication via an email address separate from the online system but hasn't responded since March, despite several follow ups. I consequently recently sent another message via the online system almost two weeks ago and can see he's read but hasn't responded. As much as I just want to get the thing done, simply working towards has at least already helped greatly with pushing on my experience and confidence which is the main thing and with the assessor apparently a very senior BASC individual, I can really do without the angst that could arise from rocking the boat. It would appear from other such threads that extended delays between witnessed stalk and telephone assessment is sadly rather a norm 🤦‍♂️

The last couple of DSC2 Candidates that I have witnessed have completed the process from start to finish in a couple of weeks. You have every right to expect a better service than you’re describing.

I am far a hater of the stalkers, I’m a hater of the waste of time, rush them through DMQ L2 system

The 3 stalk system was far more superior
If you stalk a beast and shoot it correctly first time and then gralloch is done to standard and then the carcass is took care of I’m hygienic manner then why do it another twice.

I’m not advocating for the 1 stalk. Which I done and I knew I was ready as I’ve been shooting deer for 17 years and only done my DSc 2 recently. But never ever bothered untill I wanted to up my game.

More than one shot to prove.
Like having the 3 stalks!:thumb:
I think people who had to do the 3 stalks feel hard done by when it was changed to one stalk ...but given loads of people think its a waste of time and money I suppose it doesnt really matter whether you did 3 or 1 :) ... certainly cheaper in many cases with just 1 stalk (if you pay to stalk and pay for the AW).

But I agree with your point about consistency.

Absolute borlicks!

That’s what I think to that reply

Lets also introduce three driving tests to all show the same thing, whether you can drive safely or not.

"Socialism is great, until you run out of everyone else's money to spend."

Can't complain about DSC1/2 just being money making scams and then also complain when those who run dramatically reduce the cost.

There is a difference between a driving test and DSC2.

Driving test, I drive correctly I pass, if I get one aspect wrong I fail and have to do another test.

DSC2, I get one aspect wrong, I can still be signed off on the aspects if I met the criteria and I have 3 years to complete it.

You can pass your practical driving test with up to 15 minor driving faults (minors).

Make 15 minor faults in your DSC2 stalk  then one would hope the AW called time.

Great, so lets re-do the entire test when you've already show you've met the standards in some areas.

How efficient is that, other than for those making money out of the process.

Or perhaps that's why they're now charging AW's to be registered.

No system is ever going to be perfect.

We're all human; titans in some areas and utter appendages in others.

But hey, let's keep arguing semantics among ourselves while the deer population grows even further and the whole shooting match is out of our hands with the government ceasing any form of recreational stalking and taking over with enforced culls, whether landowners like it or not.
