EU Reach Committee - 7yr Lead Extension

There's some sensible stuff coming out of Europe of late. Alas our woefully detached Labour government that's so desperate to get us back involved (aka haemorrhaging money and puckering up our backsides to the monster von der Leyen), seem to be hell bent on pushing policies way out of date.

Latest from the EU Reach Committee. Lead in shotgun carts now a 7 year transition - in addition to lead in bullets being put to bed with no restrictions.
Wake up UK shooting orgs🙄
Sold down the river by BASC and all the others such as the CA and fellow travellers who signed up to the ridiculous voluntary lead ban call of February 2020. I expect we'll hear little from BASC on here trying to weedle themeselves out of that shameful surrender they orchestrated. Yet folk will still pay their subscription renewal money. Like mugs. Or, rather, the cur dog that no matter how often its master kicks it still goes back for more because it knows no better.

And his enables an individual to download the linked document and its conclusion of:

In light of the broader provisions on lead in gunshot introduced by this Regulation and in order to give manufacturers and users sufficient time to transition to alternative forms of ammunition, paragraphs 11 to 14 of entry 63 of Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 should apply until [Publications Office: insert date of seven years after entry into force of this Regulation].

I hope that those that are members of BASC now propose a motion of no confidence in those whose fingerprints are all over the February 2020 call, and those at BASC subsequenty publicy promoting or defending it. And the minutes of which meeting that prompted said call still remain unpublished. The whole lock stock and barrel of those associated - both elected and salaried officials - should be cleared out.

It won't happen though will it. We all know it

We should have sat back and then aligned the u.k. with the EU Reach committee proposal, but the orgs agenda has been to save commercial game shooting.
I hope there will be at least an attempt by shooting organisations to write to the new Prime Minister and the new DEFRA Minister to suggest this. And if any are constituency members to do so by a face to face meeting at a constituency surgery.

Might be worth all of us writing to our MPs about this, especially if we have pro-EU MPs/those that want greater alignment with Europe.

There's a BASC meeting in two weeks, I've not seen the agenda yet. Would be good to retain the option of lead for all calibres so shooters can make their own choices rather than being mandated.

Wonderful. Having compelled numerous manufacturers to switch from conventional bullet designs to copper etc. under threat of going broke, the EU now says, “Just kidding!

When’s the next gravel-spitting 180⁰ turn? After their next expense account three-bottle lunch?

Klenchblaize - invested in the funky BASC vehicle sticker

That's interesting. If we down under fellas display shooting stickers on our cars and the car or house where the car lives is broken into and firearms are stolen we are automatically guilty of failing to store our firearms securely..aka we advertised that firearms are present which invited the thieves in sort of thing. Result is no more shooting licence.

Not displaying such is common sense but a sad reflection of the world we live in. Didn't say I display a BASC sticker or indeed a BDS one (anymore) but having GUN or 44 MAG as part of your vehicle registration plate, or indeed some other far less obvious firearms related reference, is hardly likely to impress a UK Firearms Enquiry Officer if they became aware of it.

It might ease the supply of non lead shot if we are in advance of Europe.

Perhaps as our "Goverment (sic) wants closer alignment with Europe they "might" copy this - but then....
Probably more to be gained from the alignment with Europe angle than any hope of any assistance from those members of the shooting community that on the LAG and elsewhere strongly advocated the ban.

Alignment with the EU on this would be good but its illogical to exempt air guns .22 & .17 rimfires whilst banning 9mm rf Flobert .
