Again, maybe I did post a write up or 2 in my early days on here (really can’t remember). I shoot quite a few deer per year but never feel the need (and I’m too lazy) to post a write up.

Just because people aren’t posting about it doesn’t mean they’re not doing it. In fact I know a few on here who shoot way more deer than me and they have never posted a write up?
Yes lazy would be a box which is an easy box ticked, lots of people join to learn (reloading is a good example)
post a question on that subject as it is a good place to learn from, it can also be like that from write up's as like all the other info posted
people have the chance to learn from it...
Post nothing then people have no chance to learn anything
"complete novice wanting to learn" is often used :tiphat:

I think you are wrong, people just enjoy swapping kit. Many of my clients have more expensive kit than I do despite the fact I’m out every day and they maybe go out once a month. Part of the hobby for them is having nice kit that they get to use in their time off, and good for them! If they work hard why shouldn’t they get to buy nice things to enjoy in their time off whether it’s nessasary or not?! Also, there may be guides like that, but there are plenty of good ones out there too!
Expensive kit is not what I posted about it was the fact the sales threads out strip the write up's nothing more nothing less.
18k at a quick glance on the sales page 6 write up's in that page

Most people don't need to write up what they do, they just get on with it, aside from updating my intro when I shot my first deer on my own permission I've only done one write up ever on the SD. I only did that write up as I thought it was a bit more interesting than my normal stalking. By Tim's logic, those 8 deer featured in the write up were the only ones I'd shot, they got me to 29 total from 1st of Jan to the end of March!

Some people like to share a story, which is great, others just seem to need validation from social media.......

Perhaps a few of the weirdest weirdos, such as you and I, ought to be filtered off into separate section of our own, leaving everyone else to get on with some sensible discussion?

(I've already suggested having a separate, private sub-forum, specifically for those who shoot unmoderated .270s, with special priority status being given to the ones with beards, sandals and Tilley hats).
Don't forget pipe smokers or roll uppers.

Knowing a few newbie stalkers, I think that many rush out with their crops new license and buy what they are told is the best stuff. Usually quite expensive, and often what the dealer wants to shift (6.5CM, anyone) not what the customer really needs.

Once the have used said kit and realise it doesn’t work for them, then they start selling and re buying what they actually need (usually at a big loss!).

So, not really pro stalker’s fault, but certainly a sector one!!

I think the term "weirdos" is very negative. I feel "special" is much better.

We will have to be careful to be inclusive so need a "manly" side for beards and .270s and a ........."less manly" side for tactical creedmoor owners...and maybe a middle ground for beard sporting creedmoor owners

I'm generally in favour of diversity and inclusivity, but there are limits!
Tacticool is definitely out, imo.

:lol: Try carrying a tacticool rifle around for 3 hours ... not cool ... still love the big lump of a rifle I have ... though envy something like yours ...but not in .270... I would never live it down

Then how are people expected to glean any knowledge🤷‍♂️
Write up's covers a lot more than Deer "out last night" with people posting each day, the corvid pigeons ducks covers.
Shame the stalking blinkers are on way to tight...
I don’t do write ups, but I do take novices out with me and I teach them what I can about the deer they have just shot or the one that ran, to reading distance and wind in a field to adjusting poi or close up vs longer distance shots without messing with the scope.

They all seem to have a good time, they take home what they shoot and it costs them nothing, and they take that knowledge on to their next stalk and so on.

If we all did a bit more of that then the general skill level would improve and along with it, the cull rate.

That is good of you and I am sure they do, however you can only take a few where all of the members can read what has been written, as I explained with reloading that written information is shared over the whole of SD but it is quite clear many have the time string long sentence's together over subjects they particularly disagree with with
(look at all the replies of people who took the time to tell you was wrong about mods off ticket) as a good example
It is like watching Master Mind with them passing and falling apart on general knowledge.

Wouldn’t have gone for that one either!

6.5x55 is the one you needed.
6.5 Creed does the job just as well ..... you cant really get more dead then dead...but if you could the 6.5/.284 makes them dead with a bit more conviction.

I appreciate lots of people hate the Creedmoor family ... but I dont care
