Thoughts on this please

I done a deal on a brand new rifle with a shop,
The gun was advertised cheaper than anyone else, so that’s why I jumped on it
I also asked how come it was so cheap
And his reply was, that’s the price and should I be charging more

So the deal was done over the phone and then the shop worker emailed me to say,
Great talking to you etc and yes I’ve messed up on the price but let’s keep it between us and I’ll call it mates rates
This was last tuesday
Deal done on the agreed price between us both and it was going to get RFD to me
I then got the payment details on the Wednesday and paid in full the price we agreed on, on Thursday
Saturday morning I get an email
Saying I’ve messed up on the price and I simple can’t honour the price we agreed on
You can pay the extra ££ if you want it or I’ll refund you your money back

Fuming is an understatement
Surely they should honour the deal?

Thoughts please
Thanks

Take the refund in the spirit of this there was a mistake made on price so that is what drove you to buy it.
That person is not the boss so just doing what he is told as the rifle has a real value of X not x

There was no luck
A deal was done
I did ask them how come your selling it cheap

And the deal did happen didn’t it
I paid in full
I brought a welder off a chap who's wife had priced it by mistake on their website lower than it should have been on a xmas deal
He dropped it off and I handed him the cheque, that's the wrong price on the cheque Tim
Ok I will re wite the cheque he opened his phone looked at the website (daft gow) was his reply and took the cheque lol

I'm sure if you pushed it, there is something that says a shop has to sell something for the price on the label... tbf I'm not 100% sure...

But is it worth the hassle!

Ring up Forest Lodge Guns in Wragby, they will sort you out a deal.

Edit: Apparently, the retailer has the right to decline to sell you a product if it is priced incorrectly. So walk away Jose..

I’m sure that technically a contract has been struck - however the reality is the shop have cocked it up. I’d take the refund and buy a similar rifle elsewhere. I don’t think practically there’s anything to be gained by turning this into a matter for the Law Lords to pick over.

No mate
I wouldn’t want to go that way

Just wanted peoples thoughts really

If he signed it onto your FAC then the deal was done and he has to honour the transaction.
If not accept the refund and buy elsewhere because it's a fight you can't win.

The problem is he is just a worker not the man who pays the bills probably, he quoted you wrong, and probably would have to have made the difference up, you could of offered to split the difference, then all sides may have been happy.

I can't believe anyone would even consider buying a particular firearm of any kind, new or used, without carefully examining it first.......
Hawkeye borescope is your friend.

In law there is a contract once an offer has been made & accepted, whether verbal or written. The fact that there is an email trail confirming the price, accepting it is an error but still offering the item at the original price confirms the contract still exists. The contract is between you & the business which the individual is employed by & was acting on behalf of.

All that said, get your dosh back & go & buy what it is you want from your local RFD, somewhere you can probably do a deal to include some ammo or mounts, etc & don’t have to pay RFD transfer fees & shipping either. Somewhere you can go back to if there turns out to be an issue with your new purchase too - not that there should be but if there is you can walk in & get it dealt with face to face.
