Essex FAC Variation

Put in 9 weeks ago for a deer legal calibre after passing DSC1 and continue to be mentored by very experienced deer manager.

I've just sent an email today requesting an update.

I've been told that they are prioritising renewals (fair enough) but they cannot give any indication to how long a variation will take!

Has anyone else done a variation with them recently?

I thought 3 months would be plenty for a simple variation when I already have centrefire calibres and an open cert.

I put in for a 1-4-1 two weeks ago and was told that it could take up to two months for that as there short staffed and its coming upto holiday season
im going down caliber with the 1-4-1 too and thought it would be a quick turnaround (apparently not the case)

I don't think it's to do with what you're asking as their work will be the same whatever cartridge you're asking for.
Essex had some senior and experienced staff losses at Christmas and I don't think they've replaced them with enough staff to cover their loss. Essex were really fast last year but the delays have been getting worse since then.

Well I pass two months this week.

Not looking good

as M@tt has said, Steve B retired last year and it's been a bit of a mare since - my variation took 12 weeks I think

Just sent in my ticket to GMP to get the Target condition added. Hopefully it should be straightforward and quick but we will see!

I’ve had nothing but excellent service from Essex my quickest was 48hrs! Longest was 6 weeks.
Their staff churn last year has definitely slowed them down but be patient they’re genuinely a really helpful bunch.

To be completely fair I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Essex in the past
Always been super fast with variations so I’m just hoping it’s a bump in the road for them

That's absolutely appalling. I don't suspect they care, but people need variations to get on with their jobs!
Yep. My 22-250 is getting to the point of being unusable. Mate has one going spare which would do the job. It’s utterly crap!
