My father-in-law used diluted Pine Sol in Canada

Got two in last few days. Known as "cleggs" in our parts famous for getting you when collecting turf on a sunny day

Console myself with bite cream and watching revenge content

While in high school study hall we would catch the big flies, hold them in your hand and gas them with a butane lighter to knock them out and then tie a leash on them with human hair (yes, I once had very long hair). Or, we would tie a tiny note on the end of the hair and let them go. Not uncommon to see two or three of these note carriers flying ever so slowly around class.

Is this the exact spray they use for horses?

Christ this year they are all over me

There’s a product called Phazer we used to use on the horses

It wasn’t cheap and smelled of creosolt - but it worked and kept the worst of the flies at bay

Autan also works (on me ) but hard to find

Same but I certainly don't like them. I get infected pretty much every time with the things

10% iodine makes a huge difference for me with them and any insect bite. Apply twice a day for a few days

I use the spray, i find it excellent and no bad smell off it

Catch them, stick a long blade of grass up there arse and release. Not so long a blade as they can’t get airborne.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but I thought it was stalking related.
Does anyone have any thing they use to keep the bloody things away? My leg look like a pin cushion
I’ve tried insect spray but it doesn’t seem to do anything

Sawyer Picaridin Lotion. Used it in Sub-Sahara Africa to keep all of the biting things off. Also use it here in Lancashire to keep the horseflies (Clegs) and ticks at bay and it works a treat. Doesn't smell, easy to apply and doesn't melt your spectacles. Certainly worth your consideration.

I have seen folk Attach a fake dragon fly to the top of there hat and this acts as a repellant, i presume dragon flys eat them?

Cheap enough online to try.
