FAC and S/G apllication in to wiltshire

Very true and fair point! But to be honest I wouldn't go shooting a deer by myself unless I knew exactly what I was doing, grolliting etc, I know I would be more comfortable having the deer management course behind me! I have grolleted before but still not 100% if that makes sense?

Devin. Good attitude.

Wilts are not going to try and catch you out with the definition of a "Experienced Stalker". Just be sensible and you wont go wrong.

The Grulloch you will learn on the course and much more if you do that sooner rather than later it will help you make best use of paid stalks for experience. The stuff the FLO wants you to take away are the safety considerations of Deer Calibre rifle ownership and shooting. Security, Safety, Backstops etc.

As for the Deer Management Course can I recommend to To Mike at Jelen Deer Services? He is only at Stockbridge. Jelen run a thoroughly professional course with all the theory questions available on line. Simples!

I didnt have the Experienced Stalker condition but this was going back more than a decade ago. However Hampshire at the time did say I could have my 25-06 if I passed my DSC1 in 6 months! Comparatively I think the Experienced Stalker condition isnt too bad but if I say that too loud there will be an enevitable S4it Storm on here. I hooked up with Mike and had my papers through in 3 weeks.

I'd invite you out but I dont have enough of my own land at the moment. I had to take a break after the financial ruin of having child number 3. Im sure there will be a number of lads on here though that could support your quest for hands on experience.

Mike will see you right. I've no tie up with Jelen other than being a very satisfied customer. Because of them I have had some wonderful sport.

well thank you very much :) i will look into getting it done from them, i have heard nothing but praise from that company! plus not to far which is always good, am i right in thinking its about £300?cheers dev

I had some info through recently on DSC2 and it had the DSC1 cost on it. Yes about £300. I think it was about the same way back when.

My Father used to say 'Unzipping' and that went for any furred animal from rabbit to Deer, for feathered it was 'Emptying' and we all knew what he meant :D

Around here it's always "paunch" and antlers are "horns", which in truthfulness are the words I use. I'd hate to say how many times I've used them on forums and been pulled up for using such incorrect terminology.
