Heck pack Game transporter

Hi
Just thought I would share my thoughts on a bit of kit that some of us might not be aware of. The Heck Pack game transporter from JMS Arms.
I bought this to keep the wife's soft roader free of the detritus that comes with stalking and to try and ensure best practice when it comes to the hygienic removal of the carcass. It's a fantastic bit of kit, it drops on and off a toe hook with almost no effort. I had a small MJ on Saturday that I would have normal put in the back of the wagon. The Heck Pack was easy to fit in the field, and I was able to transport the carcass to the estate larder with no fuss. Fallow which is what I really need it for are elusive as ever, however.... anyone shooting a larger deer will know what comes with moving it! I know this will make the job much easier and will keep my car clean and bug free.
The service was excellent from JMS and the kit is great for those of us without a pick up!

to round up If you are like me, and don't have a pick up truck do have a look at this.

I thought about buying one, the only issue I can see with it is transportation for any period, especially when the roads are wet, and in winter, spread with salt. This would render the carcass unfit for eating. It would however be the danglies with a box on top of it. I can see the benifit of moving from shoot site to larder if they are on the same estate/ground. It would be fine for that type of extraction.

I ended up buying a L200 instead, I can fit 2 Red and a Roe in the back of that bad boy, with room to spare. Problem solved.

I wonder if there are any Trade Members on here that have access to them at a good price !
I could use one, but the price seems a bit high for what it is.

Whinge whinge, just try making a low production run of anything either it is labour intensive (expensive) with no fixtures used or they are made with many fixtures (expensive) and low labor costs.
Always the same formular.
Its a kind of murphy thing. They are super to use, just buy it and cut down on the beer for a while.

WTF :???: Is that St. Martin talking ?
Oh by the way, you missed an earlier post reference the cost of Blaser barrels and then there is the posts about Mauser barrels then of course the cost of things in UK compared to the US. Your halo is slipping :D

I was with Julian the other day. A guy who approached him at the game fair owns a fairly large stainless fabrication company. He wanted to purchase just the tow ball clamp and make his own carrier. Julian let him take all the measurements he needed and off he went. A few days later the chap contacted Julian again and asked if he could purchase the game carrier as well, because after costing it he could barely get the steel at that price.

Tow bar attchment is £89, you can see it >>HERE<< if you scroll down, I was going to do similar.

Did Julian say anything about using one on his Smart car ?
I keep thinking about it, but when you add £500 for the tow bar it's getting a bit steep.

Neil. :)

I don't know where this guy intended getting his steel from but I have just bought the attchment and built the carrier from some scrap angle iron I had here, an old bed stead to be precise.
I now have a platform to strap a carcass to if of the large species, or a platform to take my plasterers bath if I want to carry anything else.
Saved a few pennies and enjoyed turning my hand to a little bit of 'Blue Peter' work.

Thought I would post a pic of their load carrying capacity, I find them a really useful bit of kit. Two boys on board in case you thought it looked like a new species

It looks like a good bit of kit; I've seen a version with a plastic box before rather than a metal tray but it was much smaller; you'd struggle to fit much more than Roe in the one i saw.

It wouldn't be much use to me though doing culling in a deer park then driving through a village on the way to the game dealer - I don't think we'd be very popular with the neighbours! I'm still hunting for a good quality plastic tray to go in the back of my landy which doesn't cost the earth, will fit red or a couple of sika/fallow in it but won't fill the whole back of the landy!

Not the two reds above but a Sika and 3 roe ready to go to the larder. The reds above went in a similar fashion but I don't have a photo. JMS also sell a tray with a lid that fits into the carrier which is 1.2 m wide, however I've not tried it.

Bath Tub from Gumtree, I got one for £15 for the back of my L200, need to trim the edges (Length) down but will do just the job.

Perhaps a Plasterers Bath would be better, more robust than the usual plastic baths etc and available from most builders merchants at a very reasonable price for what it is.
