Schultz & Larsen trigger adjustment

Has anyone got some instructions or a Pdf on how to adjust an M97 Schultz & Larsen trigger box they can share please?

How are you getting on with your new rifle now?
So far we have only put ten shots through it, that was a zeroing, starting to shoot in and chrono the loads. Once on zero I put three shots through the same hole and she put the final two shots in the same hole, fair to say it was only about 30m but that was a good start if the two of use can use exactly the same setup.

The switch barrel is very easy to drop out and put back in, the overall finish is good and the rifle even comes pre-bedded from the factory. One thing I did notice is just how black the cleaning patches were during the first few shots, these are cut rifled barrels which are hot tin lapped and I suspect this is tin residue coming out, interestingly not a lot of copper came out during the 10 shots. The magazine will take full chamber length rounds at 82mm with room to spare which is handy.

Trigger is a nice two stage with a crisp release however I would like to lighten it slightly so it is closer to my other rifles. All in all a very nice rifle, all that is needed now is a set of swivels and a sling.

Hi Ovenpaa, how did you get on with the info you need, i too shoot a Schults& Larsen and would like to fine tune the trigger pull a little.

Hi Schultz, I did manage to find something on it and should have the information in pdf format. If you cna PM me your email address I will send them over.

Hopefully the version I have mailed over covers your rifle however if not I have access to information on just about every single model of S&L ever built so I should be able to track something down.

One thing I should add, the current owner of S&L does not like light trigger pulls...

Hi Andrew, 'Olaf' and I have been corresponding on this subject already :)

I have a Pdf here that was translated from Danish to English and emailed to me by the S&L club for correction, embarrassingly I can find the original but not my corrected version. Once I have tracked it down I will post it up on here, or if that is not possible then on my Journal. Trigger adjustment is always very important and there is nothing worse/more dangerous than trying to guess how to adjust something as critical as a trigger.

I spoke to Jørgen Christensen of the S&L club this morning and he has asked me to translate another S&L trigger adjustment document so I will take a look at that when I get a moment and also post it up somewhere.

Hi David

Glad you saw that post. Sounds like a nice rifle he has there.

Totally off-topic - did I see a picture of a Tikka M65A on your web site? That must have taken some finding!

Andrew,

I have a feeling the M65A actually came from Suffolk however as it belongs to Christel I was not paying too much attention. It came with a load of spares including a second magazine and there are still more parts to collect one day. The M65A is now graced with an original and fairly period German built 12x56 S&B that lets enough light in to melt a small city :) and shoots it incredibly well. The rifle design itself is quite quirky however it more than makes up for its looks with accuracy. Next weekend it will be tested at 1000 yards with the new Lapua type L 155's and I have no doubts about it doing well in her hands.

I had to look for it, here is the M65A Tikka M65A .308 | Sporting-Class.com

Yes the S&L sounds like a cracking rifle and I am looking forward to seeing it at some point.

There was a post by "olaf" recently where he had an issue with a S&L trigger:

Hi, yes indeed I did have a problem with the trigger. It was not responding normally, instead of fixing it myself I decided to send it to Steve Beaty because I didn't want to 'play' with the trigger and also loose any warranty. All It turned out to be was a mini adjustment that was needed, he sorted it as soon as it got there and sent it back the next day, it performs perfectly now.
Ovenpaa has been a really great help, he's been extremely helpful giving me all sorts of information on the rifle and some good advice on my rifle stock too as I decided to quickly build a new one for it out of a stunning piece of wood I have spare in my workshop.

Kind regards, Olaf

Olaf hope your enjoying your S&L rifle:)

Ovenpaa if you do find the instructions for the trigger adjustment I would be interested in them, also do you do a Shultz bore guide in 6.5x55? Seen the 308 on your web site.
That reminds me must email about changing the firing pin!!
Cheers Dave
