I started stalking using a piece bag and have since used a number of different bipods. One of the more interesting ones I sold to another forum member. I used to carry this bipod in a side pocket in my rucksack and attach if and when required. I had a spigot on both of my rifles at the time.

Sticks are fine for woodland, but if you go hill stalking no pro. stalker will allow you to shoot any way other than prone, so the choice is yours bipod or off your elbows, rolled up jacket or whatever, but you will be shooting prone.
