what will happen if Scotland votes yes and gets independence and it joins Europe on its own as mr salmond wants and we get a ukip government and pull out of europe and say no more immigration will we ban the scotish from England without a passport .

there are soooo many questions I would like answers to and not any confirmed answers...its all hearsay and nobody can tell us the facts

im totally confused with this independence vote.... no answers to crucial questions.

Those from the south of the border are concerned about what de-coupling will cost us. For the Scots, its about more than economics. For the rest of the UK its about little else.

I have no strong feelings about what Scotland does. However, I am concerned about what its going to cost the remaining UK citizens if we do seperate.

A split will create a massive industry in itself and will cost billions in admin, let alone actual infrastructure.

Not sure what chippy really means. What Scots actually are - and this is not intended as an insult - is clannish. They need an enemy. The English have obligingly performed this role, historically, but if there's no Englishman to hand someone else will do.
I was having a drink once in a little bar in Leverburgh with some perfectly friendly and hospitible locals when I quite innocently mentioned Gordon Brown's name in passing conversation. Until that point I had no idea how rich was the Gaelic language in words for female genitalia. Occasionally there had been purely reflexive references to the "English Bastarrds" followed by an immediate pat to the shoulder and assurances of "nay offence", but the famous surliness only surfaced when a group of Glaswegians who had been to a wedding party came in. In suddenly felt like a cloud had passed over the sun and everyone dropped English and started talking in Gaelic.

there are econimc financial and structural unknowns which may be hiding huge or potentially unbearable costs

Salmond and his band of merry men/women are renowned for skirting around the questions. i am yet to hear him give a straight answer about anything.
i appreciate it is going to be a journey of the unknown but a little bit of reassurance would be good.

as for effecting leases etc the only change will be the payment method. will that be euro or the sheckle sir?
Salmond has said they would like to keep sterling but what happens if Westminster says "you want independence then get your own currency" this argument was mentioned on the big debate the other night, again no answer was forthcoming.

I think we can expect a rich sufficiency of platitudes hyperbole and nationalistic chest beating over the next 12 months but very little fact evidence or concrete financial supporting detail

The Euro proves that a currency union without political union is a complete disaster, as economists predicted it would be. If Scotland wants to be an independant nation in the true sense of the word, it needs its own currency. It cannot retain Stirling and be independent of Westminster and Threadneedle St at the same time. Either it must stay in the union and keep Stirling, or it must mint its own currency from scratch. That would be my choice, but it will be akin to emmigrating with nothing more than the clothes on your back. Aside from the start-up costs which I imagine would be astronomical, a brand new currency will surely enter the global money markets on the very bottom rung of the ladder. No bad thing for export manufacturing, of course, and no bad thing for national debt which will be enormous, but in every other respect Scots will have to accept massive devaluation throughout their economy with a concomitant drop in living standards which might last a generation. That doesn't mean the commitment required will not, eventually, be worth the effort, but it prompts two question: will the country have the stamina for the economic long-haul; and can they find the politicians who possess the long-term vision and the competence to oversee it? A governing party of inexperienced provincial socialists with plenty of low political cunning but zero economic understanding is not a promising start.
The other alternative is to leave the union of Great Britain, join the European union and adopt the Euro. In which case Scotland becomes a country with either a doomed currency or doomed independence or in the nightmare scenario both.

Another question to be considered is the islands of Orkney & Shetland what happens if the vote there is to stay in the union could they be refused after the Falklands & Gibraltar have been given the right of self determination or would the scots stand in their way?

The implications of Salmond and his parties decisions on salmon farming and mixed stock netting have been disasterous for Scotland's wild salmon and sea trout game fishing sector. It is not a case of either fishfarming or wild migratory salmonids - with forethought and little/no extra cost we can sustainably have both, but the west coast salmon fishery has been in decline for since they have been running things. Once prolific west coast rivers are knackered by their decisions.
