Ten years ago I introduced my new pupster to you all and, sadly, we took our last walk this weekend. He's been the best dog I've ever had and I'm totally heartbroken.

Grief is the price we pay for love - there can be no other way.

My big old lab lasted until 13.
Two weeks ago we took him for his final walk up to the vets with the young dog accompanying him.
Walked back with only the youngster.
He’d done his time, retrieved birds, tracked deer, gone everywhere with us and repaid us in full with love, devotion and companionship. We did the last loving act we could for him. That’s dog number 5 I’ve seen go, and number 6 is at my feet as I write this. It doesn’t get any easier, but Stalker 1962 got the words right.

Far, far too early. Our old girl, aged 14, went two very short weeks ago and we are still totally out of kilter so you have our sympathy sir.
