OK All of you Super- Stalkers, time to come clean........how many have dropped off to sleep when awaiting the attendance of the deer? I admit I have:zzz::zzz:I did it once and awoke to see 20 fallow in a previously empty field !

All the time, especially when the sun shines on the high seat, cant beat 10 mins shut eye:zzz:, only problem is when you have 40 winks sat against a tree, and wake to see several ticks running around on your trousers:scared:

Sat under a tree, dog curled up at the side of me, rifle across my legs & giving it increasingly longer blinks. Next thing I feel the dog jump up, open my eyes to see a nice roe buck turn look at me and disappear into the woods at only 40 yards. The look on the dogs face said it all, just a good job the dog couldn't speak or I'd have got a right slagging off

I fell asleep leaning on a tree in the Sangre de Christo mountains in northern New Mexico and woke to a 4 point buck standing 60 yards away. Propped my .44 pistol and dropped him. Best nap I ever had.~Muir

Not while waiting for deer but have done many a time in the early hours night-watching for poachers.
Woke up one night covered in a light sprinkling of snow and 2 hours later on after deciding just to wait a couple more minutes

seen it.went to pick a mate up from his high seat and he had fallen asleep so woke him with a bang :).............seat belt :0 more like a bog roll.

done it... to follow

read the book/thread,....well im doing so now on here.

the best one was i had a hard week up at turnberry golf course in the home land, got back late friday night, went stalking on the saturday at a local estate about 4pm, i was watching some fallow from a line if lime trees and lent/sat at the base only to wake up with that chilled to the bone feeling at 10.30pm,

now where do i get that T shirt.

bob.

I thought that was what we all did but just called it stalking, happens with alarming regularity, especially on a warm evening with then sun on your face, you have to wonder how many deer tiptoe past you whispering to their mates to keep quiet while you're out for the count though!

never dosed off stalking yet, but at fox dens different story. I set up very snug in my german army sniper bag for an all nighter some 2000ft up in the shelter of some big rocks on the crown of a hill , good panoramic view all round. strategically placed rifle , semi auto , lamp , flask and piece and settled down to wait. Woke with a start in 2" of snow to the vicky screaming at me , made a grab for the gun to discover i had slide some 30yrs down the forward face of the slope into full view . I must have looked like a large demented caterpillar as i tried to wriggle back up to the weaponry but ended up further and further away.It always amazes me that foxes tend to hang around in these situations just long enough to convince you that it might be worth the effort of struggling on to maybe get a shot.

Ive fallen asleep on sevral times when out fishing on the boat. Think its the rocking motion.

Can just picture it now

Do it regular! Busy life with 3 kids, full time job and full time culling. Just lucky I don't sleepwalk!
Often have a 'micro snooze' and look up to see deer have appeared! Probably a good way to remain stealthy up the seat though as long as you don't snore or dribble too much!:D
Which reminds me, I'm up in less than 5 hours to be in a seat for 04:55 and should probably get some sleep!
MS:zzz:

Yep ! Did it once down south while waiting for fallow in a shooting stand it's a good job I wasn't in a high seat ! :)

A bit of shot eye with every lamping trip, I thought it was compulsory :???:
Can't be worth a thread surely :-P

Neil. :)

I have to say one of my moments, i climbed up on a rock face for a great position to glass an area i had a little snooze purched over a large drop i had a moment of thinking i had been asleep for ages i lifted my head to see a hind looking at me before slinking off into the shrubery.

Never fell asleep while on the job.But do remember a dsc 2 chap falling asleep when a young buck bedded down in front of him.
