Does anyone know if there is anything looming on the horizon as the way of a course in Scotland please?

BASC ran the course I went on, but that was prior to DSC I being upgraded. Can I suggest contacting SGA and BASC Scotland? Surely DSC I would be more cost effective?

Regards JCS

K. DMQ - Setting the standard for wild deer management - give them a bell and Mandy can confirm when DSC I was upgraded. It's probably something that should be on DSC I FAQ. Regards JCS

It is!

DMQ - FAQ about DSC1 amp DSC2

Any DSC1 holder registered before 1 May 2006 who has not converted to Trained Hunter, may do so by sitting a Game Meat Hygiene assessment (by arrangement with any Assessment Centre) and paying the appropriate fee to the Assessment Centre. This fee will include the re-assessment cost plus a payment of £15 to DMQ for the re-issue of the certificate.

Or here:

The Wild Game Guide | The British Association for Shooting and Conservation

If you have completed your DSC 1 since 2006 and have the new ‘blue’ coloured certificate, then you are already qualified as a ‘trained hunter’ for large game (ie deer).

Hmm, I was wanting to see if it covered me for plucking game birds etc as well as venison.
Thanks for the replies.I'll contact the BASC/NGO and see what they say

I stand to be corrected, but I believe the Large Game version only covers you for deer and rabbits, etc. You'd need Small Game for pheasant, pigeon, duck, etc. BASC and NGO were running a course that covered both, as the Certificate can be endorsed for Large, Small or both - see, for example: Short courses Wild Game Meat Hygiene Winchester Hampshire Training Providers | Emagister
