hi guys been looking around online and thinking of buying an x bolt in 223
only probs is looks like they are all threaded 14x1 and i already have 2 moderators that are 1/2 unf.does anyone know if you can order them in 1/2 unf or would i have to get a bit cut off and re-threaded.its either that or spend another 200 plus on a moderator when i have 2

You can spec them with no thread, then have it threaded to 1/2x20TPi.

The threaded ones I have seen have also been M14x1mm

Hi Mick, what moderators have you got if its the wildcat you can change the thread to a 14x1 thats what I did when I got my X bolts

i have a t8 and a northstar, neither can be disassembled, think redmist idea of sourcing without thread and getting done may be way.what do you think of the xbolts by the way, really like the look and feel of them.looked at the cheaper a bolt but want a detachable mag

Very happy with them

Mick,

The floorplate drops down in the normal fashion and then the magazine can be detached from the floorplate.

The X bolt is a very good rifle for the money, possibly better quality than the current Tikka T3's

(I'll duck now shall I)

The X bolts

Bedded - well at least some bedding.

Decent ajustable trigger.

Shotgun style tang safetyeasy to use and locks the bolt in place when "on"

Mags - drop out, nylon materiel decent quality.

Bases - need Browings own and they are 4 screws per base - strong fitment.

Accuracy - ive shot several, all were sub MOA (usualy 3/4 inch at 100 yds) wit factory ammo - will only be better with reloaded.

Nice stock, barrelled action a little rough in places, (if you have em stripped watch for the mag inlet edges)

Action held in with hex screws.

Price very favourable.

Good quality, cheap, accurate stalking rifle - I would buy one if I didnt make my own....

Oh, I know where there is about to be some very competatively priced (new) A Bolts too, if anyone wants to know.

223, 243, 308 and I think 30-06.

I have just got a 30-06 Xbolt which is 14x1 but if my memory serves me the smaller calibre X bolts are threaded in 1/2 unf.

thanks guys for replies, think i will go for xbolt for the small xtra price over abolt much nicer looking.will just have to ask at gunshop as to threading
