Battle of Britain day was yesterday and not a mention of it anywhere.........is that because there's a 'different' battle for Britain going on...or just no one cares anymore? ATB

I think it has been swamped and I think that is a shame.
One of the best books I ever read was "Fly for your Life" by Wing Commander Stanford Tuck.
Recommend it.

Scottish independence: NHS in Scotland 'faces £400m funding gap' - BBC News

It'll be worth watching to see how they deal with this.
If there was such a thing as a Denial powered rocket wee eck would be able to travel the galaxy
:)

I forsee the answer being the standard "more scaremongery from the Westminster government released by an untrustworthy source in the BBC".

If true and there is a 'Yes' the defecit will be shored up for the short term in the following turmoil and subsequent raise in taxes. If a No vote it can be blamed on the UK government at a later date securing further support under the 'told you so' banner.

The real issue is that, if you take a subjective financial view on the NHS and associated costs the reality is it has been an out of control financial juggernaut almost since its inception.

Unfortunately politically it is such a hot potato and vote winner that no government has really had the bottle to say "we can't afford to continue running like this", basically we really have what no one else in the world gets for 'free' and it's at a point it cannot be changed without a radical rethink by the public.

Whatever your political views etc the country, as a whole, never mind the independence debate, is skint and it is not going to change in the medium or even long term whoever runs it.

Blame is banded around by all the parties but what they really need to do is explain what the unpopular solution will be, none will so more money is borrowed.

If this doesn't scare you then you are truly beyond scaring......

Headquarters....who needs them?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-29194691

Global players
What of others? Well, urging a "No" vote, Keith Cochrane, the chief executive of the Weir Group, says its Glasgow headquarters has 70 staff and spends "tens of millions of pounds" in the local economy. He's not ruling out a move out of Scotland if it's in the company's interests.

The Scottish government's white paper suggests a lower corporation tax rate should help "reverse the loss of corporate headquarters".
But the loss of corporate headquarters doesn't seem to be about tax rates. It's about takeovers. And if tax rates determined where HQs go, then all of Britain's boards of directors would now be meeting in Dublin. They're not.

ps... these guys are pretty worried....

like I've being trying to say for a long time, Salmon is a liar and so are all of his top team. It is actually obvious when you do some reading from the information available and see what his claims and sales pitch is based on.

The worst thing and what makes me really sad is the emotional voters. You believe in the emotional plee of Salmond's freedom and independence so much that you want to make the fantasy of it plausable. The facts point out that the yes vote will likely bankrupt Scotland quickly and everyone will suffer as jobs end and industry and business goes south.

I support independence but only when the time is right and Scotland is economically sound. Right now in the recovery stages of a recession there could be no worse time to put the future of our country at risk especially with a idiot lying clown in charge.

+1
I support Scotland being independent.
I don't support swapping Westminster for Brussels...it's even farther away than London.
There are some pretty big dancers on the eec dance floor and I think we will just get our toes tramped.

As for Salmond and his team...if they do have a scooby about the Reality that is facing us they keep it quiet.
Then when it all goes t*ts up they can blame the Spanish or xyz, long as it's not their fault.

They have such a capacity for denial, delusion and displacement of blame how could it be anything else than a huge success ?
Even when it's falling about folks ears.

I bet they will have "press" (lol) conferences to Tell folk how well we are all doing...and I bet Nick Robinson's invitation gets lost in the post :).

It's all to play for.

The show's not over till the fat @&$5$%& sings or preferably....greets.

ps... this was 16 hours ago, the Telegraph...

[TD]The seven dwarfs always left early each morning to go to work in the mine.

As always, Snow White stayed home doing her domestic chores.

As lunchtime approached, she would prepare their lunches and take them to the mine.

One day as she arrived at the mine with the lunches, she saw that there had been a terrible cave-in.

Tearfully, and fearing the worst, Snow White began calling out, hoping against hope that the dwarfs had
somehow survived.

'Hello. Hello!' she shouted. 'Can anyone hear me? Hello!'

For a long while, there was no answer. Losing hope, Snow White again shouted,

'Hello! Is anyone down there?'

Just as she was about to give up all hope, she heard a faint voice from deep within the mine,

VOTE FOR ALEC SALMOND!"

Snow White fell to her knees and prayed,

Oh, thank you, God! At least Dopey is still alive!

That's actually quite funny Gerard and a very positive message from a natural survivor even in a time of tragedy.

It is all very simple to me

Individuals wanting a better country is one thing
Giving politicians with no track record of any achievement the power to govern every aspect of that country is entirely another

You show me an SNP or Scottish Labour politician (or councillor for that matter) who has made a credible decision or grasped the devolved powers they already have and done something useful with them and I will reconsider my position

This has nothing to do with Westminster, or whether you voted for current government (or the last)
People seem to forget that the SNP in its current guise rose up under a Labour Government not a Tory one!

this is a vote of confidence or no-confidence in the people in power in Scotland

dont know if anyone has mentioned the credibility torpedo of a £400m gap between promises and funding in NHS
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-29213416
whistleblower leaks the beans ..Slamon denies all .....situation normal

yes-ters will find no reason to believe this or anything else that doesnt fit with the vision they wish to have of the truth.

Louder ....so maybe they will hear....promises are being made to ecourage you to vote...as suspected it looks very much like those promises arent going to be fulfilled..

now thats getting a tad more seriously threatening

Charles Ritchie, who runs Score Plc, which provides engineering services to oil, gas and nuclear firms, has openly supported the “No” campaign despite receiving threats. In the past two months, his company has received two devices in the post that were made to look like bombs and one live bullet in a box of matches.

Over many years the Uk has assisted various countries in obtaining democracy. If on Thursday there was a yes vote does the panel think Westminster would assist and support Scotland as a new democratic country or do you think they would do all in their powers to make it more difficult.
