New Yukon Photon 4.6x42 Digital Night Vision Riflescope - Stock Alert

I dont generally shoot rabbits at 200 and try not to shoot foxes at over 150 if i can help it but yes in my opinion the scope is well good enough to do so if i need to,i was out last night it was raining enough to significantly affect the view in the thermal but to give you an idea at 160 through the photon Mk2 i could easily see sheep clearly enough to head shoot them, however, you have to bare in mind it only has 4.6 mag, i had thought about a doubler but found that on the Mk1 the doubler altered the zero by at least 6" at 50yds so for me a doubler is a waste of money

Thanks TikkaT3,
usefull knowing its capable even if you don't take the shot.
Have you tried other types of night vision, im stuck between a photon and the nitesites, both have good and bad points

Hi Simon

We offer a 7 day demo service, and have dedicated demo units of most of our kit for you to try in the field that we dont mind people scratching, getting grubby etc when testing.

We don't have a demo Photon XT yet as we haven't had enough in to satisfy back orders, but as and when we have free stock we will allocate a couple of XT's to demo also.

We have got one demo unit which had a crushed box which went to Sporting Shooter mag for a review, so when thats back you are welcome to borrow it to have a play for a week.

Regards

Paul

Yes i have, the pvs14 is exellent and is useful to take off and use as a spotter but for me was a bit fiddly to set up each time, Now, the dronepro x10 is a different beast altogether but then at 5 times the price of a photon it ought to be?
I tried a mates one and got to say i was well impressed, it.s on a different planet when it comes to comparing it to a photon and as soon as i can i'll get one but till then the photon is worth every penny and i'm sure will account for many foxes in the coming months.
Any one close enough to me wants to have a look if you pm me we'll sort something.

Hi I recently purchased the old version from you and asked you was it worth hanging on for the new one, you told me it was less magnification and the only difference would be the digital sight . Now from reading the reports this is not the case the new version has better picture quality etc I am happy with my mark 1 but disappointed with your advice , I could have held off for the mark 2 no bother you still would have had my custom now I cant afford another one really disappointed Martin

I suppose its to be expected if a retailer has old stock that's been superseded, they may bend the truth a little rather than have it left on the shelf.

Thanks .243 your probably right at my age I should have known better I would like a reply from scot , s to here what they say I would not expect them to replace it that would be to much but an apology would be nice for there bad advice ?

I suppose its to be expected if a retailer has old stock that's been superseded, they may bend the truth a little rather than have it left on the shelf.

The advice may well have been given in good faith.

It is not always apparent what actual, practical improvements have been made until the new model arrives and has been used in the field.

Specifications don't tell the whole story, either, and actual specifications can change in between the announcement of a new product and its final form as sold. This is especially true with technically-advanced products from companies with continuous product development.

Also, if you are thinking of buying at the end of a product cycle, perhaps attracted by a price reduction, it is always worth thinking "why would they bring out a new model that isn't going to be better than the old one?". The new one will -almost always*- be better. What you can't tell is whether the new/old price/performance differences match, but the discount is unlikely to be greater than the performance gap.

*I'd say "always", but I'm thinking of this summer's Aldi trail cameras, which weren't a patch on the previous model.

Hello I'm new to the use of night Vision , a couple of weeks ago I bought a photon xt , I have mounted it onto my Ruger 1022 for " Bunny Bashing" however due to the limited adjustment on the photon I have had to pack the rear mount to be able to get the shot on the paper , as I have not had a change to get out in the field with it I zeroed at 25m at the indoor range , my question is will packing the rear mount cause any sighting issues at longer ranges ? The mounts were the ones recommended by the dealer I bought it from and are "high" would I be better off with medium ? What's the thoughts ?

On another note ..

when I first got the Xt I had an issue with the sight where th inbuilt IR illuminator would not turn off , even when the full unit was off , I returned it directly to Thomas Jacks , I rang the next day to check progress , while I was on the phone a brand new unit arrived ! Exceptional service in the least !

I find the photon Xt does everything I need for bunnies on the .22 , the picture quality it not up to that of the more expensive units but at £400 it's more than value for money. The only thing I would suggest is that the doubler lens would be a great improvement , not just for magnification but also quality , but overall very pleased with it.
