ruger 1022

Hi,
Get a Tony Kidd supergrade :-)
Or just change your barrel (Midway are good) and a tuned trigger.
Regards Phil

The custom barrels green mountain etc are better but a standard barrel that's been cut and crowned properly can be very good especially for the cost.

I was just looking on rimfire Magic and they are doing standard 10/22 barrels for £90 the modified barrels start from £200 so for a rimfire I think it should be kept as cheap as possible for what it's used for.

I am going to save the good money for the CF rifles and shotguns

Green Mountain barrels are all rifled from stress relieved blanks and are air gaged. I've got a 16.5" fluted barrel that is threaded for a suppressor and is one made for the UK market. I have it on a Ruger M96 lever gun and it is a serious shooter.~Muir

what size groupings should a standard ruger be putting down at 50 and 100 yards?

Our JAYB keeps his 10/22 rifle (not carbine) here for his visits. It will shoot half inch at 50M with the original barrel, but! this rifle never came with a barrel band. The barrel bands really screw with accuracy.~Muir

Does the barrel band have any pros for it being fitted? Or are they all cons?

How many 10/22's are you talking about? I have never found that the band helps accuracy.~Muir

I've own 4 of them from standard to full customs and bulit around 15 semi customs for others gave up with the barrel band quite early on and besides most aftermarket stock don't use them anyway but it seems the band upsets the barrel harmonics

My Bad! I read your post as saying remove and the accuracy will be ruined. I agree with you: they are an accuracy killer.~Muir
