LandRover dealership visit

They are just a fashion accessory now, priced accordingly, despite what the die hard enthusiasts say, they don't have the off-road capabilities, reliability or build quality that many claim they have, ok a damp field or muddy gateway yes but if you want the real thing imo you have to get a Toyota is one of its many guises.

If you want to go into' the bush' go in a Landrover.
If you want to come back out again go in a Toyota !!!!!!!!
There is hardly a single Landrover in rural Africa. It's mostly Jap. Wonder why ?!

Google it if you want the real answer to that, it was well documented. Clue = Toyota - low sales - desperate.

Well I have a 15 year old Defender and love it. Use it for keepering duties, stalking and shooting elsewhere. 80k miles, never had a problem with it.

When it comes to plugging mud I have driven around and towed out more Jap vehicles that I care to remember.

OK, so the heating is crap, and it's not much fun to do more than 70 in, and a journey of more than a few hours can be a bit tiresome. It's got "character" and is very good at what it was designed for.

...and it's British...or German, or American, or is it Indian....still it is made here!

My 12 plate rangerover died today !

locked it up , went swimming , came back and it unlocked ok but then totally died , I couldn't even open the glove box to consult the manual or call LR assist !

i popped the bonnet (thank god that isn't electric!) and checked the battery terminals, got a bit of a fizz and the electrics livened up , so managed to get home.

7 years and 250k in the Amazon and never had a single failure , and it was better off road but that could have been the tyres because I put a slightly more aggressive set on the Amazon and the rangey is running OE .

Im a diesel mechanic, I have to work on alot of landrover and range rovers and my opinion of them is they are the most overpriced joke of the car world. The build quality of the defender (actually all of them) for what people pay is absolutely shocking, they are not that easy to work on, i find a Mitsubishi shogun easier.. They have a cult following yes but for the life of me i cant figure out why. I could go on with this post for a long time as i could use it as land rover therapy lol.

Maybe it is Land Rover's fault (everything is, it appears). Depends who put the battery on. But as design faults go, not sure it's up there really.

Land Rover have made an outgoing limited edition Defender "Autobiography" in 90 format and @ £64,000 before you put a single accessory on... Don't bother rushing to order one as they are all sold out and yes you definately can't afford one as mentioned earlier.
Currently folk are selling their build reservation for £10,000.

When do you take delivery of your one RD ? :-D

ok , landrover built the car , landrover serviced the car , landrover did all the warranty work to date , landrover changed the intercooler hoses three times now , the car is still under warranty , its still the OE battery ,please tell me who's fault it is ? you don't happen to work for landrover service do you because that kind of staggeringly incompetent answer is the kind of drivel you get from their service department ! usually from some dog tired bloke clearly sick to the back teeth of dealing with fed up LR owners...........

your post implied it's not landrovers fault ? please enlighten us whose it is then ? if I had fitted the battery(which I'm well capable of by the way) I would accept the blame and certainly wouldn't post my dissatisfaction on here ?

I read lots of unsupported 'spin' on here about land rover from the LR fanboys and lots of anecdotal facts from the enlightened ex landrover owners..........

(Personally) i think anyone buying one needs their head scanned, but they said that about the E Type "black" which are now worth hundreds of thousands.
My local LR took full payment on their only Autobiography last week from a young lady who intends to park it up.

Being a distant relation to a mettalurgist i know that bolts when tightened up do occasionally need re torqued and from past experience of battery terminals loosening i do nip them up when i am doing my checks.
I took delivery of 3 Iranian assembled Defenders while working there and i did a spanner run on all of them and at least 1/3 of the bolts were not even hand tight.
But i still love them and if a loose terminal is all you have to worry about at the moment sell it and take the bus?

if all 'I' had to worry about was a loose bolt then yes I could sell it and take the woefully unreliable bus service as I choose to live in the sticks , however I have a disabled partner and 4.5 year old daughter to worry about as well so a vehicle that is so dead you cant even get the glove box open to call land rover assist just wont do unless you are utterly selfish and frankly quite a nasty kind of person ?

leaving a disabled person with a 4.5 year old girl stranded in this current weather (or any weather for that matter) to me is completely unacceptable.

I've owned the car since November and it's been a constant source of trouble.

I will be meeting with LR to sort this out tomorrow.

replacement vehicle , this car checked (again) and a guarantee of replacement if it fails again, money back , the choice is theirs but there will be a decision no wishy washy crap.

I wish I'd kept my 05 land cruiser , to be honest I'm cross with myself for being so staggeringly stupid especially after the last two LR products I brought were so unbelievably unreliable and the jap stuff I purchsed was in comparison so utterly reliable!

Maybees best sell it then as they are bad, really really bad.
PS. There is no R in bought.

Lets have a little less of this kind of remark on the site. I notice its a similar attitude with Stag1933 who happens to be an elderly man with limited locomotion who demands a bit more respect than he has been given by you.

A bit of leg pulling Sikamalc that's all. I have broad shoulders and can take all the comments aimed at me on here!
Now anybody want a nice shotgun?
