Baikal shotguns any good?

My old man and I have one taking up cabinet space, 28" ejector O/U, very tidy and done little work if anyone wants one for £120 ? I'll stick an add in the classifieds when I get home and get a couple of photos of it.

Be keen on that myself if the other interested party declines.

I thought this might amuse. The handbook that came with my Baikal double barrel shotgun I bought from my grandmothers catalogue! £4 a week for year in 1977 (or was it £4 a month?) Anyway had it for years and it was bullet proof. Was a wildfowling gun for a while and survived being dropped in the Dee (Welsh) Sold it about 20 years ago when I could afford better. Assume this was made 1977 (see English translation page)which ties up with my age when I got it

That's not drastically different to the manual for my Baikal Stealth which I bought new in Jan!

Good guns. If you like that sort of thing. Agricultural. Plain wood. Thick walled barrels.

I have the 2 3/4" Magnum side by side "Made in USSR". Cost just £225 from Joe Beatham at Gun Shop East Barnet. A bit of fun really and from the set and cast of the stock designed to be shot like a rifle. Which is as well as the chokes are about extra full and REALLY extra full. A fun gun.

Certainly if you can get past the silly snobbish comments then I'd get one. In fact almost a "reverse snobbish" gun and a bargain at the price for the USSR marked ones. I've not yet seen the current "Made in Russia" versions however.

Thanks for help,it's decide then looks like I'll be £400 lighter by end of week

Nothing wrong with Baikals, i've had a couple over the years including a very old and very tatty double trigger O/U that I shot very well with. £400 sounds a bit steep but obviously I don't know what model/spec/age etc that you are looking at. I can't imagine even the highest spec ones going over £250 second hand.

I actually bought my one for 90 quid from an old guy in the village who's now sadly passed away. Used it for ducks, geese and pheasant, it was the double trigger non ejector and it constantly helped me bag up, funnily enough never seem to get the same amount these days with the Beretta! :???:

I dont have much experience, but I bought a baikal o/u, switchable ejectors, barrel selector via the trigger, selection of chokes and built like a tank, all for 400 quid, not pretty and quite stiff out of the box, but they loosen up with use and seem to shoot straight. Only thing that might cause a problem is they are not proofed for steel, so you may have a problem wild fowling.
