ive used home loaded 110gr vmax in my 270 for years, as monarman says accurate devistating on foxes and a little messy on deer but good for reds if you push them a little slower. I have matched norma vmax speeds but tailored them to my rifle making them more accurate than me, this means I can go...
I have a scar on my head where a chip of rock that previously had been 6" infront of my .270 had been collected me on its way to a new home. Just goes to show mistakes like that one could be serious, it cut through my hat and glanced the left had side of my head requiring 6 stiches. Funny thing...
Just done your survey. Where I agree with most of the posts on this thread, I'm also of the opinoin that if "its not broken dont fix it". I have in the past had to dispach a stag involved in a RTA with a .222 and found that a 50gr vmax did the job perfectly and after disection did more damage...
I've been using a 222 for years on roe with 50gr norma soft points with no issues. I have just finnished making and testing a 50 gr vmax load over H4198 which is performing very well on paper. ill let you know whar the outcome is. enjoy the new cal.
I've got it on mine I asked when I renewed 10 years ago and it was no problem, does mean that I can use solid slugs in a 9 shot semi auto , I don't use it much but I have been called by the local bobby to deal with rta's. I'm not sure how complicated it would be to get it now.

Ive been using a stainless synthetic t3 lite .270 for 8 years, it's had 1000's of rounds through it still clover leaves, looks like a tool, works like a tool, and to date has never let me down (i've let it down but never the other way round). does need a moderator to get the best from it.
I did't say I expected it to move I just wanted something to cover the pit so the kids (should they ever be allowed into the inner sanctum) don't fall in:lol:
just moved into a house with 2 40' garages one with a 1/2 lenght pit and insulated, pool table and dart board and frigge in so far waiting to pick up a couple of decent couches and a old MG and I'll be set!!! untill the missus gets a hold of me!!! or reads this
