  1. How to pronounce different cartridges

Not to sure about this need to pronounce names in the way they are pronounced in their original language. Comments on whether to say Sacko, Say-ko or Saa-koo pop up all the time (I use Sayko when speaking English and Saa-koo when speaking Swedish Why should we use the Finnish one? We don't seem...
  2. .223. 1in12 v 1in8 for fox out to 300m

Check out the Aussie pro vermin shooter on Youtube: RJM Hunting. He uses a .223 Sporter barreled Sako and factory loaded (ADI) 55gr BlitzKings. Don't know what twist it has. In one of his vids he drops a fox at 477 metres. Cheers
  3. Any demand for bespoke buffalo leather bikini lens protectors?

I would love two pairs of these for my .222 and .308 Walnut hunters. If you get around to shipping overseas I'm onboard. Cheers
  4. Strelok

As long as it's running on the iPad I'll stick with it. No longer use the iPad for anything else. It's dedicated to Strelok. Cheers
  5. Strelok

Yeah, this Strelok saga is a b*gg*r. I lost it from my iPhone when I upgraded to 16. Luckily I have it on an older iPad which I do not upgrade. Only use it for generating drop tables that I then tape to my stocks. Cheers
  6. Sako 90??

I have an 85 varmint and two 85 sporters. I use the Varmint primarily from the UTV as it gets too heavy when walking and stalking, and it's in a walnut stock! One of the sporters is a laminate and is ok for stalking but it received an Alpex 4K LRF yesterday and now it's a pretty hefty piece of...
  7. Sako L461

I have Optilocks on all six of my Sakos. Never had an issue with them. One set is the Ringmount model and I would recommend these, if you can source them. As mentioned above the normal Optis are two-piece and this could cause some grief. The latest version are slightly better given that the base...
  8. Howa 1500 or sako 85

Maybe. My 260 Rem Stainless does have it and I use it with a Tikka style lug in a GRS stock. Cheers
  9. Howa 1500 or sako 85

This is not always the case. My 85 .223 Stainless Laminate, a very accurate piece of kit, does not have this slot in the action. Cheers
  10. Vixen on the bench.!

Hi FB, just wondering. The pic of the bolt shroud suggests a model A1. I have one, purchased SH off of a farmer close by. Had it pillar-bedded and cerekoted, also in Midnight Blue. The action screws were similarly made like yours. Sourced one through Beretta Aus and one through a company in...
  11. .223 options for foxing

Have a look at this. 223, 57cm barrel, 55gr Sierra BK, factory loaded rounds: Cheers
  12. .223 options for foxing

This is always the starting point. Find a rifle that fits you first. Barrel length no big issue. I shoot foxes with either a 60cm or a 57cm barrel. Both of them do the job :) Cheers
  13. Tikka t1x.

Nice set-up Muir. What make/model of suppressor are you using? Cheers
  14. New 222 rifle options?

I know you said it but stop effing around, bite the bullet (a .222 of course) and get a Sako 90 Hunter blued, walnut and shoot in bliss for the remaining of your days. Cheers
  15. Sako 90?

Speaking of 85 recoil lugs I've always thought that one could use a Tikka 3 type of lug and the slot in the 85 action. That's how the GRS stock works that I have on my 85 Stainless in .260 Rem. A while back I dismantled my 85 .223 Stainless Laminate to check for moisture. Noticed that this...
