Dear Weeman, logged in with the ambition to talk to you and then spot your missive! There is sort of news and no news. There is a Team Spartacus that has kept me boosted. They have been postering, door to dooring, social media-ing researching and seeking. From this it has been learnt there...
  4. 2 wks, 4 days & no sign of that teckle - can I ask for help EVERYWHERE. ?

Weeman you are a star, your looking is appreciated. I've been looking on those sites too. Shall explore the 'for sale' ads in magazines on a weekly basis. If you were to keep yer eye open there too or your local papers, he may just show up. ? It's torturous letting the best friend down...
  5. 2 wks, 4 days & no sign of that teckle - can I ask for help EVERYWHERE. ?

This Cris, there's a poster at Vickers, but will go remind them. I fear he aint local no more.... but haven't given up, although bewildered with how to proceed. Thanks for writing, and please mention the poster next time you pop into Vickers. Spart can't be mentioned enough in deer/teckle/dog...

  7. 2 wks, 4 days & no sign of that teckle - can I ask for help EVERYWHERE. ?

Hi Shakey Jake, I don't think he went to ground for heaps of reasons, even if sometimes I hope he has and will emerge. The gamekeepers here are aware of the badger scene, the sets have been checked and there has been no activity. T he gamekeepers around here too have even installed infra red...

Good thinking Weeman! like the reverse psychology bit. The worst part of losing the dog is the helplessness and so this is a positive new tack to take :o) Give me a call if you learn anything at all. I send updates here if I do too. Best wishes, Marn

In West Berks UK, there is a great deal of support for wanting to find Spartacus, but if he has been taken further afield he/i'll need help further afield and hope you will keep your eyes peeled and noses to the ground, please. Any contacts you have in your dog or teckle worlds would be greatly...
  10. Have teckles been bred to keep a deer at bay... ?

skipping the tracking, scenting discussion. does anyone know or have experienced teckles keeping deer singular (or indeed plural), at bay. Or, from your experience, would they insanely lay into one? Can anyone confirm they could have been bred for rounding deer towards the shooter? I can't...
  11. Ding! Have I finally gotten why Teckles are good deer hounds…. ?

that's what I thought, that dog and deer combo would be carnage. But maybe a well bred teckle not only tracks, but has the innateness to know how to handle the deer in a less volatile situation and with a live deer.? It was this learning and others' experience of this situation I look for...
  12. Ding! Have I finally gotten why Teckles are good deer hounds…. ?

Ok, more concisely; Do deer dogs normally lay into deer when they are in proximity? This tale was of the teckle merely kept the deer in one place (at bay) and itself at a safe distance til I turned up (to do whatever a teckle owner does) and was not about scenting.
  13. Ding! Have I finally gotten why Teckles are good deer hounds…. ?

doh! it was the keeping of the deer at bay that impressed me and am curious to learn more of.
  14. Ding! Have I finally gotten why Teckles are good deer hounds…. ?

I aint no shooter, or hunter, but got myself a teckle 4years ago, was told he was a deer dog and had observed his almost quivering ifdeer came into view through a car window. I’ve seen him bark across fields in chase, with confidence he wouldn’tcatch them and with no one following he’d come...
  15. Hi

Hi, have a wander! there are forums on many and varied subjects. there are wits and wisdoms, courses, classes, things for sale and a lot more. Maybe tap into 'search' something that interests you and see where you end up! does that help? ?! You will find more than you would have imagined...
