RFD is the way to go, I have seen some guns that have come back after the police took them and the state was enough to reduce the owner to tears.

So they should have been able to envisage what the area would look like in 2023. They would have been considered insane if they had said the area would be like it is now. No way they could have even guessed at it.

I don't agree, I have taken 375 and 416 and nowhere near 5kg of ammo.

Using 30.06 as an example 5kg is 170 rounds. Even if you have a zero problem that is a lot of ammo. Been to Africa several times and never taken or needed 5kg of ammo.

How many animals are you going to shoot if you need 5kg of ammo for one trip?

It seems not to occur to the OP that a lot of people put stick on targets all over the backing board so that they have multiple targets. When these are removed it looks like someone has been missing the centre by miles but actually they were spot on where the target was.

If you get stopped by the police, as soon as they run your name they will know you are an FAC holder anyway because of the firearms marker.
