I had to go to Maldon this late morning to buy an electrical box so I can fit a GPS display pod for a farm gator they are converting for spraying.
Slowing down to turn in I spotted 2 older people supporting an equalay old man on his knees facing a low wall, pulled up in the car park with a plan coming together as i got out.
Ran to them noting people who were going around the 3 not even looking back...!!
Quick check to see what was going on with the old boy trying to use his inhaler...
Asked his name ...Steve asked the other 2 had they called an ambulance. No...!
Quick check again he was freezing cold shaking so ran into a tire shop asking them to call an ambulance.
101...? No####ing 999. Asked if the had any old coats blankets...nope.
Got the guy calling the ambulance to go and stand where the people were, then ran to the electrical shop asking for blankets..
The young lad said I have 2 sleeping bags and a duvet in his van, good lets go...
Bless he said " I never have done anything like this Mr" as we ran across the car park,
Checked on Steve and told him what we were going to do, so we wrapped him up like a xmas turkey just as the police arrived.
Asked the young copper who was putting on his gloves.."are you taking over" eh yes.
Checked with Steve and walked back to the shop with the lad to get my box....
Second police car arrived a thumbs up from the first 2 and off I went.

I'm always disgusted when I see people walking around someone who's clearly desparately in need.
I remember seeing a shocking bit of footage, where an actor with a hidden camera on him faked a collapse in a busy street - he even had people stepping over him!!!
Well done for stopping, Tim.

Well done Tim! :tiphat:
I had a similar experience a few years back while driving the wife back from the supermarket. I spotted an elderly lady lying on the pavement at a bus stop so I immediately pulled up and put my hazard lights on while I ran to her. She was in quite a bad way and I suspected that she had mayb had a heart attack. I rolled my coat up and put it under her head while the wife took her coat off and covered the lady's body with it to keep her warm and then dialed 999 for an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived it turned out that the lady had had an epileptic seizure and they took her off to hospital.
What I could not believe was that there were literally dozens of cars driving past but not one slowed down or stopped to see if any help was needed! I do hope that they never ever find themselves in that position where they need help while others just drive past without offering or trying to help!

Well done tiz nice to be nice many as you found out are not ? but whine when they need a helping hand I get both everyday from the very well off to the very poor both get the same aid but some get a little better service ;)

What a Good Samaritan you are Tim, can’t be many people like you left, someone who clearly has respect for his fellow human beings !!

l remember seeing a test similar to this on TV (a set up), a person was standing on the parapet of London Bridge threatening to throw themselves off and after quite a while no one had attempted to help, hundreds had walked past, (all this was on camera), until the Good Samaritan came along. The outcome of the story was that only a certain few are able (mentally) to cope with this scenario, most will just walk past oblivious to almost everything, it takes that certain person to help.........someone like you.

Good on you Tim,we had the same at our Sainsburys a couple of years ago ,heard the screech of brakes as this lad lost it on his twist n go and the bang as he hit the wall of the click and collect.Me n the mrs recovered him from the wreck gave first aid and and the mrs got help from the store as people walked around and past us as though he wasnt there and his bike was invisible .
Makes my pee boil the way the the modern generation help no one but themselves ,fair play to you Tim getting help, giving aid and ensuring follow up came Dunkirk wouldnt of happened with these creatures from the planet ME ME ME first

Well done fella - good on you :thumb:

Reminds me of years ago, where a young lad had gone off an edge in a mini and landed in a bad way trapping him. Stopped and with no mobile phones back then had to wait for the next car to come down to get help. Fortunately it was a TVR and I will never forget the roar echoing through the woods on his emergency mission. Legs were busted but the kid was stable so just had to keep him warm and talking. Help seemed to come pretty quickly leaving me with a massive respect for our emergency services.

Haha, Tim, they knew he was acting....they weren’t as stupid as he thought. Bet he felt a right pick laying there being ignored!
Maybe?
Ken.
PS Everyone should carry a couple or three of those very cheap heat reflective blankets in their car.
And when out stalking or dogging ,or whatever you might get up to where you might need to preserve body heat.

Class action Tim :tiphat:

Indifference of others often amazing : a local had broken down in his disabled carrier, 2-3 hour wait for RAC, started hitching to the garage, no-one stopped and had to walk, when I picked him up 3 miles later he told me that he had recognised some **** from his village drive past him in the rain!! Fortunately he wasn't carrying a wheelchair dependent person at the time.
