The 60fps mode is likely better for close range, scanning an area with the scope (i.e. ratting) so it's less jittery when moving. The 30fps mode will be for longer range, more stationary targets.
I've tried out the 30/60fps modes on the Alpex Lite and found the 60fps mode on it to be horrible to my eyes. Will be interesting to see if the DNT does it better.

I think this is the point where I move a rifle over to dedicated now. Less than 700g and tubed. Given the performance of the brick type Zulus, this is surely going to be a nice point in time where NV is really all it needs to be for most applications.Arriving late next week.

Do you mean 50/100 fps on the Alpex , do you use the 100fps mode the most often then ??
do you think the 30fps mode on the zulus is going to be a poor quality picture ??

Interesting - at least in the world of computer screens, 60Hz is now the benchmark, with 100/120 being considered the better option.

I know - I have a 240hz monitor myself. My job is image/video/content creation so I consider myself a bit of an "image snob" - and I found the 100hz mode on the Alpex Lite to not be great.
will it not need an additional IR torch for night use? if so that will increase the weight.
Of course but you need a torch on the Alpex or the new Nocpix. It still saves 400grams which is a lot. I currently use day scope, Vulpine add on and torch. That probably weighs even more but does give a quality scope to use during the day. I have a spare rifle which I can use a digi scope like this on, so it sort of makes sense. Probably need to sell a day scope though.

I would like to know how this might compare to the big Alpex, looks to be half the weight which is good. Does it lack in any areas?

Did it earlier. I then emailed as there was a minor issue with the prefill address thing. For some reason it has put some spurious "Main St" in to the address but i don't think it will matter as the rest of the post code and address is all good. I emailed a reply to the confirmation email just in case but I suspect it will be fine anyway.

I use external IR with the Zulus V1 and V2 as LED provides the best quality up close and the larger VCSEL torches provide the best long range power. Plus easier to centralise .
£650 for a top performing, lightweight, 4K tube scope, your not being robbed, thats for sure...

I just don’t like bolting another item which can get knocked off or just knocked climbing over or crawling under gates and fences

Everyone different- i much prefer adding my own choice of 3rd party IR for anything over 22lr. Plenty of very powerful but tiny/lightweight iluminators available now.
For me it's a massive step forwards. Tubed is way better than a brick on a stupid mount and realises a much better cheek weld and eye fall on the ocular. It is nice and lightweight and no extra battery drain due to inbuilt IR and plenty of time I will not need it at last knockings. It will only be in the very last moments of light or when foxing at night that I would add an IR torch. In that case, it is better to have a choice of what you want to use for all manner of scenarios and it takes literally 5 seconds to slot in the mount on the ludicrous lumens torch mount and tighten so that your chosen torch is perfectly aligned. No having to rely on the inbuilt torch being aligned perfectly (many are not apparently) and you don't have to walk about with an extra item catching on branches or wire etc until you actually need it.Defo good for the money that’s for sure

Faster lens and bigger than the Alpex light. 4k which is better than the previous Zulus, so daytime should be better.
It is hard to find a fault with the concept for my needs. Proof will be in the pudding of course but I can see this being much better than what went before. I have been a Vulpine user for a long time now as I could never quite reconcile the compromises that were always a requirement with the various dedicated scopes. This is now just about doable I feel. We shall see when it turns up but fingers crossed.
