New Bipod question,

evening all,

so having tried the spartan javelin and tier one tac bipod and not liked either, im now going to try a Accu tac BR-4 G2,
id prefer the arca attachment as its more sleek, but having a quick look at the price of the rails there £40-£60 which i find ridicules. then aging for a decent make picatinny rail aint much better priced,
id need a M-lok one for my MDT XRS and one for a tikka T3x super varmint that fits to the snivel stud hole, so i guess my question is, does it really matter if its a good named brand like MDT which is what i looked at, or will a cheepo one do, i dont normally do cheap, but i cant see the value in these for what they are and what there going to do. or am i just being a tight C*&t
thanks.

Ps, this is coming from a man who swore he would never spend such an amount on a bipod, who also called his mate a ponce a year ago for spending £300 on a bipod

I'd be surprised if you like the accutac bipod due to its legs adjustment method but then you may like it...the atlas BT CAL bipod is my chosen bit of kit, well worth a look if you haven't already shelled out. Or perhaps the UTG Over Bore Bipod would be worth a look also

I was actually looking at the atlas bipods too.
I maybe best visiting a shop to look at them both. Only round here there are not many shops. And even slimmer picking for a shop that will stock them both. 👍

What is a bi-pod

I have an Atlas BT46-LW17 which I took to bits, cerakoted each bit, and then put back together
It works very well.
Note: if you are going to take it apart to Cerakote, the central locking nut is REVERSE THREAD. If you try to turn it the other way you will break it.

you can buy them "in bits" for coating then send to them for reassembly - in the US!

Essentially you're on your own if you take it to bits yourself...hence my note earlier about reverse thread as that's the one that gets people.

Been there, done that and I have concluded that for me the Spartan Javelin in both its guises provides all I need for field work but they are pants for range or benchrest.

The Accutac BR-4G2 is a lump, but a good lump, the sort of lump you wished you had as a mate when starting your first day at secondary school when the higher year kids would tip you upside down and rattle yer dinner money out yer pockets. I have two, one is called Ronnie and his twin brother is called Reggie, I feel safe and reassured having these two minders on my side but yes, the protection money? I bought once, along with a bulk pack of hankies!

On the other hand, the gangsters moll as it were, the CSW Ranger Ultralight which I have for my rimfires is a trim little option.

A mate has one of the MDT Oryx or might be Magpul MOE and he hates it, too much wobble and flop he says, the manufacturers suggest that this is by design so you can "load it up" both he and I are not convinced, take note!

For me it came down to horses for courses;

Field work/any rifle, (.22 - .243), = Spartan
Range/bench Heavy Rifle = Accutac
Range/bench Rimfire = CSW

Well, iv opted for the Accu Tac BR-4 G2, i looked on ebay as optics warehouse normally have things on there cheaper than there shop, Arca rail one was £50 cheaper on ebay, stuck it in my watch list and got sent an offer of £325, than decided it will be a bit of a bugger geting a arca rail on there so opted for the pic rail one, £399 ebay and shop, sent offer on ebay for £325 and it was accepted :D and i already have pic rails for the XRS and tikka stock,
i not so long ago had to do a price match promise on optics warhouse against there own ebay store, and got a £14 refund on a double rifle case:lol:
