Good afternoon all,

I have a serious itch for a pointly little 243 for some truck work and foxing. I run a 308 tikka for all my deer work and I currently have a howa 243 sat in a lovely wooden grs timber stock. I NEVER use it.

I always favor the 308 and i just have a serious itch for a gun I don't have to be precious of.

has any one got any real world experience or reasons I shouldn't risk my marriage and go down the begara rabbit hole?

TIA

Is it small but not as light as you might expect. Compare the weight to a bolt action with a short barrel if you are aiming for a light rifle.
It works well but you probably aren't going to win any benchrest competitions with it, probably due to the trigger. Good enough for roe at 150m though in my experience.
The non-stainless barrels are prone to rust so they need a bit of looking after.
The weaver rail is fitted without thread lock in the factory so it works loose unless you refit with thread lock.
Mine recoils more than the B/A I have in a similar cartridge. 243 seems like a more pleasant idea than 30-06...
Having said all of the above, I have taken a few deer with mine and it is a joy to carry all day.

Someone pointed this out in a review elsewhere. It is a hammer not a firing pin so the lock time will be longer

I have one, I agree with TTT it’s a good shooter but fix the rail down as soon as you get hold of it to save some grief later on.

I have had mine cerocoted but would look at stainless next time, that’s if they do one in .243.

For the money you’ll have change from your howa so you really have nothing to lose
